LOW report 2/11 - 2/12

1 post in this topic

Six of us fished out of Bayview. Very happy with the resort fish houses and cabin, friendly and helpful staff too. We had two fish houses for the six of us, but they let us jump to a few of their empty ones too, so that gave us some options without having to be real mobile or portable.

We kept 24 walleye/saguer and 4 jumbo perch. Threw back a few small ones, but most of what we caught were over 12". We did get a 17" sauger, and threw back a few slot walleye, the largest being 25.5". The typical LOW gold worked best for us, then pink/white. Bite was slow, and light. No bobbers or very light setup was best for us, a few fish were caught lightly jigging. Agressive jigging and the fish left the Vex screen. We were 10.5 miles out in 34' fow. Fish may turn on once the weather warms, mostly below zero for us with highs in the single digits. Sunny and little wind did help. Hope this helps.

      Great stuff guys

The lakes took a beating and I was not out on Sunday to see the damage. Saturday I saw the first 4 to 5 inches turn soft. Be careful and check the ice conditions

Sometimes you need em that size.      You guys did push me over the edge so I had to go out Sunday afternoon.  Thanks for that.

I was going to try to go tomorrow (walking out in metro) despite the rain which appears to be light and I have a portable. Are you concerned about the ice conditions deteriorating throughout the day?  Or just for the rest of the week?
