David Carr???

A R Johnson

Recommended Posts

I just read an article in the St. Paul Pioneer press that the vikings are interested in david carr, vikings would give up a fourth rounder for him.

I would do that in a heartbeat. Why? A fourth rounder is nothing. Houston didnt surround him with any talent and there are a quite a few stories out there where it takes a QB a few years and a change of scenery to reach their potential. I am not saying he is the answer, but if we only have to give up a fourth rounder, absolutely, do it. How many 4th rounders can you even name?

The Whizzinator (SOD)!!

I agree. David Carr was the highest rated quarterback the first half of the season last year. Well worth a 4th round IMO. I'm sure 1/4 of the NFL would be interested in a trade like that.

last year texas wouldnt draft v young because they already had carr, now they want to dump him for a fourth round pick.....i say go for it

I would love the deal---the Texans went through all the growing pains and now maybe (for once) the Vikings could get some of the benefits of a trade!

I think it would be a good deal for us. He's never had more than 1.2 seconds to throw before he get's hit and drops to the turf.

I sure hope the Vikes do something. Right now, let's face it, the Vikes do not have a quarterback heading into next season. Johnson is done, Bollinger is not a NFL quarterback and Jackson is about 5yrs away. I am a firm believer that you do not need a great quarterback to win but you need one that is decent and can take care of the ball. Right now the Vikes do not have that guy. I predict right now that Childress will be gone by week 5. Gonna be a long year for the purple come this fall.

I absolutely think he's worth a shot at only a 4th round pick. The guy's career was probably shortened four years due to all the physical abuse he took without any sort of line, but he's still young enough that that won't matter for a few years.

This is a no brainer. Then again we have to wonder what goes thru Childress' head. Johnson is out and having Carr could be a blessing in disguise. Not going to cost as much as trying to get Schaub. Vikes should jump on this asap. Sweeten the offer by including a player like Smoot, Kleinsausser, or Wiggins.

how's the running game in purple country? is it really any better than houston? i really don't know, not being snotty.

i would actually like to see the vikes do well with the right people but i could go either way with carr. he's worth a shot though. i don't get to see alot of nfc north games out here just 9er's and raiders frown.gif

If you purple people can get him for a 4th rounder, you better jump all over that! I highly doubt Houston will give him away for that price however. Then again, good old Mike Sherman has his hands in the cookie jar down there now and he isn't exactly a personnel/free agency guru. He's made dumber moves in the past.

I agree, you boys do need some interim QB help, regardless of whether Jackson is your long-term guy or not. Carr would give him some stiff competition.

Drove around some of Minnetonka today. Most backwaters have froze over and some dock areas that have turned off aeration have also. A few rigs out.

I'm not there, so I can't tell exactly what's going on but it looks like a large area of open water developed in the last day with all of the heavy snow on the east side of wake em up Narrows. These two photos are from my Ring Camera facing north towards Niles Point.  You can see what happened with all of snow that fell in the last three days, though the open water could have been wind driven. Hard to say. .

Black Bay had great ice before but a few spots near rockpiles where there were spots of open water. It looks like the weight of the snow has created a little lake in the middle of the bay.

On the south end...   Thanks to some cold spring weather, ice fishing continues strong for those still ice fishing.  The bite remains very good.  Most resorts have pulled their fish houses off for the year, however, some still have fish houses out and others are allowing ATV and side by sides.  Check social media or call ahead to your favorite resort for specifics. Reports this week for walleyes and saugers remain excellent.   A nice mix of jumbo perch, pike, eelpout, and an occasional crappie, tullibee or sturgeon being reported by anglers. Jigging one line and using a live minnow on the second line is the way to go.  Green, glow red, pink and gold were good colors this week.     Monster pike are on a tear!  Good number of pike, some reaching over 45 inches long, being caught using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring in 8 - 14' of water.   As always, work through a resort or outfitter for ice road conditions.  Safety first always. Fish houses are allowed on the ice through March 31st, the walleye / sauger season goes through April 14th and the pike season never ends. On the Rainy River...  The river is opened up along the Nelson Park boat ramp in Birchdale, the Frontier boat ramp and Vidas boat ramp.  This past week, much of the open water skimmed over with the single digit overnight temps.   Areas of the river have popped open again and with temps getting warmer, things are shaping up for the last stretch through the rest of the spring season, which continues through April 14th.   Very good numbers of walleyes are in the river.  Reports this week, even with fewer anglers, have been good.  When temps warm up and the sun shines, things will fire up again.   Jigs with brightly colored plastics or jigs with a frozen emerald shiner have been the desired bait on the river.  Don't overlook slow trolling crankbaits upstream as well.   Good reports of sturgeon being caught on the river as well.  Sturgeon put the feed bag on in the spring.  The bite has been very good.  Most are using a sturgeon rig with a circle hook loaded with crawlers or crawlers / frozen emerald shiners. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing is winding down up at the Angle.  Walleyes, saugers, and a number of various species in the mix again this week.  The bite is still very good with good numbers of fish.  The one two punch of jigging one line and deadsticking the second line is working well.   Check with Angle resorts on transport options from Young's Bay.  Call ahead for ice road guidelines.

With the drifting, kind of hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing about a foot and still lightly snowing. Cook end!

How much snow did you get on Vermilion?

lake here refroze too...  started opening again yesterday with the wet snow and wind...  very little ice left today...
    • Hookmaster
A friend who has a cabin between Alex and Fergus said the lake he's on refroze. He texted me a pic from March 12th when it was open and one from 23rd when it wasn't. 🤯
