I just read an article in the St. Paul Pioneer press that the vikings are interested in david carr, vikings would give up a fourth rounder for him.

I would do that in a heartbeat. Why? A fourth rounder is nothing. Houston didnt surround him with any talent and there are a quite a few stories out there where it takes a QB a few years and a change of scenery to reach their potential. I am not saying he is the answer, but if we only have to give up a fourth rounder, absolutely, do it. How many 4th rounders can you even name?

The Whizzinator (SOD)!!

I agree. David Carr was the highest rated quarterback the first half of the season last year. Well worth a 4th round IMO. I'm sure 1/4 of the NFL would be interested in a trade like that.

He's never had an offensive line in Houston.

I was stating what I read, I never said they shouldn't do it!

I would love the deal---the Texans went through all the growing pains and now maybe (for once) the Vikings could get some of the benefits of a trade!

I think it would be a good deal for us. He's never had more than 1.2 seconds to throw before he get's hit and drops to the turf.

I sure hope the Vikes do something. Right now, let's face it, the Vikes do not have a quarterback heading into next season. Johnson is done, Bollinger is not a NFL quarterback and Jackson is about 5yrs away. I am a firm believer that you do not need a great quarterback to win but you need one that is decent and can take care of the ball. Right now the Vikes do not have that guy. I predict right now that Childress will be gone by week 5. Gonna be a long year for the purple come this fall.

I absolutely think he's worth a shot at only a 4th round pick. The guy's career was probably shortened four years due to all the physical abuse he took without any sort of line, but he's still young enough that that won't matter for a few years.

This is a no brainer. Then again we have to wonder what goes thru Childress' head. Johnson is out and having Carr could be a blessing in disguise. Not going to cost as much as trying to get Schaub. Vikes should jump on this asap. Sweeten the offer by including a player like Smoot, Kleinsausser, or Wiggins.

how's the running game in purple country? is it really any better than houston? i really don't know, not being snotty.

i would actually like to see the vikes do well with the right people but i could go either way with carr. he's worth a shot though. i don't get to see alot of nfc north games out here just 9er's and raiders frown.gif

If you purple people can get him for a 4th rounder, you better jump all over that! I highly doubt Houston will give him away for that price however. Then again, good old Mike Sherman has his hands in the cookie jar down there now and he isn't exactly a personnel/free agency guru. He's made dumber moves in the past.

I agree, you boys do need some interim QB help, regardless of whether Jackson is your long-term guy or not. Carr would give him some stiff competition.

I heard Casey retired and sold his boat.

Gills should be on or real close to beds. Crappies are on beds on some lakes, done spawning on others. Btw, welcome to Fishing Minnesota!

It was on the opener last year.

Frazer Bay is as far as I venture West but that bay can be very good at times. I prefer Lindy Rigs with a 5' leader,#2 or a #4 hook, red or green bead by the hook, and a 3/4 oz. sinker. That time of the summer minnows and leeches work best but do not be afraid to try 1/2 crawler on this rig! Like PSU said, look with your electronics for the fish, then fish for them! 12" to 32" depths. Cliff

Welcome to our Forum Muzzy!  You may want to consider hiring a guide for a day or even 1/2 day to start your trip.  They can give you a lot of good information that will help you put fish in the boat for the rest of your trip. Cliff & Casey are regular contributors here and members of the Lake Vermilion Guides League.  https://lakevermilionguidesleague.com/.    Good Luck!

Hello Muzzy,   Lots of good spots close to Oak Narrows. I will let the experts pipe in, but I've been doing well in 20-30 feet of water in the Frazer / Smarts Bay area. I would trust your sonar and find spots off reefs and follow down to 20-30 feet. Either jig or Lindy has been working for me with a Rainbow minnow

Finally making it up this weekend to the cabin since January.  Looks like hit and miss weather conditions over the weekend, but I'm hoping to get some decent time in the boat...as long as the father-in-law isn't cracking the whip too hard  . That's good to hear about the success in Frazier, Matt.  Always seems like we are fighting for walleyes, but I'm hoping to change that and try a few new spots this weekend.  Hope everyone has a safe and good fishing holiday weekend.

We are from Indiana (land of terrible eye fishing). Staying in a cabin in the oak narrows June 3-10.  This is our fourth year fishing the big V, but have always fished the westside.  Never had great walleye fishing yet.  We normally stay father on the westside like around wolf Bay or Norwegian, so we wanted to find a cabin closer to the Eastside.  Figured the narrows would be closer so we can fish spots on the west side that we've already learned and also venture to the east where I've heard the walleye fishing is better for keeper walleyes.  I'm looking for any tips or locations to try.  Maybe someone could help us out.  It would be much appreciated.  Thank you
