Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Went out today with my dad and his friends. You know the type sit on a bucket and instantly complain about the bobber not going under. We ended up with a 7lb North on a tip up. lost another one the Quick strike rig broke at the swivel. Ended up getting about 20 sunnies right before dark. Left at dark and everyone was bragging about the fish they caught and how much fun they had. I think it was a great time out there. Was nice sitting on the ice till temp started dropping then we got a little comfy 4 people in a 2 person fish house.

Tried a lake Just2Fish was interested in. Caught about 30 bluegills, one crappie, and one northern. The depth finder was lit up from the bottom at 25 feet to eight feet from the ice with the 'gills. Not a lot for size but if you wanted them you could pick through them and get enough for a meal. Didn't stay as long as I would have liked to see if I could get a walleye or two and more crappies, the wind came up and I couldn't keep my canvas down on my Clam Jr.

Went up to Perham to meet the in-laws / out-laws. Hit Big Pine lake and caught a 25-inch 5.5 pound 'pout. Then caught a 3-pound 'pout.

Yuck.

It was fun anyway.

Hitman.

I haven't ice fished this lake in about 4 years. It had a pretty large scale winter kill a few years back. I am sure it has since rebounded. Lakes like this typically come back pretty quickly following winter kill, especially with the mild winters we have had as of late. Mayhew used to be loaded with smaller perch, and had decent crappie action at times. I too would be curious to know how Mayhew is doing. Wish I could be more help to you.

Be very cautious on lakes even further north of the Ogilvie area lakes. As of 3 days ago, there was still significant open water on Ripple, Hickory, Big Pine, Cedar, Bay, Farm Island, and numerous other lakes in the Mille Lacs, and Aitken area. Be very cautious, take your time, and test the ice every 10 yards or so, particularly if you get anywhere near anything that would be considered mid lake. Area resorts and bait shops are very reluctant to give advice that would be considered a green light to access even the small lakes. Be safe....

Anyone on here been out on White Bear yet? I've seen a few people out off the Ramsey Beach area where the truck went through the other day but have not had a chance to venture out myself. Normally I hit the Belaire area early ice. Thanks!

wealthwood had1.5 last weekend, i saw no one out but 1 person on the whole west side last wsat afternoon. thi week the resorts on the north end and east are reporting decent ice. check with the resorts before you go out. id stay away from public accesses now and follow a staked road.
