I lucked out this weekend

1 post in this topic

Saturday was a beautiful day but I couldn't hit the lake because I had to work. My wife was there with some friends, no ice on the lake.

How is that lucking out, you might ask.. Well, I probably would have left the boat tied to the dock overnight, hoping to get in a couple more hours on Sunday. My wife told me this morning there was an inch of ice. I would have had to break the ice up and try to drag the boat onto shore, I suppose. With an inch of ice it's probably there to stay. Even with nice temps next week, the nights are long. BTW, my dock stays in year-round.

Most of our fish came on minnows under bobbers. I spooked countless fish with even subtle jigging.

I never made it out Monday was too tired from fishing Friday - sunday didn't feel like getting up early

Hey, Here a quick update on actual ice thickness or snow cover on trout. 14 inchs of ice pressure ridge out there. if you are  on a snowmobile if traveling fast on it watch for it. Truck or car i do not recommend on trout with pressure ridge. And yes i have been on the whitefish chain this year in truck. just not on trout. just my 2 cents
