Thanks Harvey! I live right next to the park and have been on the waiting list for the past two years... needless to say I've spent alot of hours scouting this park out and think I've found two extremely good locations. Now I just need to beat the other 180 hunters to the area. grin.gif

P.S. I saw a ten point buck two days ago on the border of the park, heading back towards it and it's in the area I'm hunting so hopefully he will cross my path.

He wasn't. frown.gif I did however stop at the park station headquarters and they had registered 6 deer... a 9 pt, 8 pt and 6 pt and the rest were does. One person reported seeing a monster P & Y type buck, but it didn't even get close to him. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

I'm hunting the Cleary Lake hunt not too far away. We only have 55 permits in this park, but its lots smaller.

I only saw 1 buck today. Long story short I made a poor shot and hit high. After over 3hrs of exhaustive searching This deer lived or made it more than 500yds without bedding down and left the property. I finally found my arrow 100yds after I lost he blood trail. STarted searching again and completely grid searched the area he was heading and still found no more blood. I'm extrememly disapointed, but we'll try again tomorrow.

First time up in Brainerd in 3 years. Went to big trout on Friday, thinking it would be a guarantee (which it usually is). Nope! Not even the rock bass were hitting! Only ended up with a couple pike and a couple largemouths. The inspector at the boat launch was showing me some pics of a couple lake trout this one guy had caught a few days earlier, a 34 and 36 incher! Saturday we were going to fish gull, but it was jam packed with people! Was there a tournament going on? Ended up at a secret little lake where my wife caught bass and pike one right after the other, while I couldn't get a bite to save my life! Was good to be back up there after a 3 year absence. Hopefully I'll find the time to get up there again.

Very nice walleye no matter how the picture came out! Do not see many of those each year!

We ended up keeping 9 walleyes and releasing 3 slot fish between 19" and 23".

Here's the proof of the 28" I told you about today cliff. Unfortunately this picture doesn't make this fish out to be nearly as impressive as she was in person. I'm gonna need to work on my selfie skills.

Interesting headline in the Virginia newspaper this morning. The Landing is being sued by past employees for not paying minimum wage, not paying overtime, and keeping up to 50% of the employees tips that were received via credit card.

Drove to Ely yesterday and there were some pockets of great color. I would definitely think next weekend would be worth the trip.

I would say that we are about 1/4 into fall colors in this area.
