River Near Rice Lake/Lum Park

4 posts in this topic

Since all the water around the north metro has suddenly gotten so skinny I thought I would make a final smallie trip to Brainard/Lum Park this weekend. Not asking for spots or advice but for water conditions - is there enough water to float a boat from the Lum Park landing and travel up the river from there or has that been drawn down as well?

Would really appreciate the feedback. Thanks,

Daze Off

Stopped by the Crow @ Dayton today, highest it's been since early summer. Down here, keeps dropping.

Wow, that's hard to believe when just upstream at Elk River it is about the lowest I have seen it....

Also heard it is low near Anoka - Rum has been dropped for the season already so flow will be reduced.

Hey, Daze-Off, I'm renting a cabin on the Miss, first week in June. Never fished the area. Any info on what I might expect? Thanks.

I'll stand behind Steve's ice rods!   I was able to get a nice collection of them last week.  Some panfish rods that I hope to work out tomorrow, and some walleye/laker types that I used today.  Great feel, light, and well built.       I connected with a couple mid-20 inch lakers today and couldn't have enjoyed the fight any better on another rod.  Very happy!   Thanks Steve!
