gun shy...maybe??

1 post in this topic

I have a two year old springer that I pheasant/grouse hunted with last year. She is a natural when it comes to pheasant/grouse hunting but I tried to bring her duck hunting last weekend and some interesting things happpened. She did just fine, other than whenever she was sitting right next to me and my gun went off, she would run off to the truck and hide under it. However, if a gun went off even as short as 5-10 yards away it wouldn't bother her at all. I was just curious if this has ever happened to anyone else?

Had a jake come in at 6:25, thought it was a hen with it putting and cuts.  No gobble or fanning at all.  Caught us by suprise when we seen a little beard.  No bird for Abi yet.

Finally made it out again.  This time with Abigail.  Bumped 2 birds on the roost walking out.  Hope they weren't toms or there are more near by!   Have heard a couple of gobbles in the distance.  Nothing close.   Good luck
