Big game. I think the winner of this game wins the series. 5-3 Twins. Bonser goes 5+ with help from the Bullpen. Twins light up Esteban early only to see him settle in. Rincon gives up a homer with hopefully nobody on base. Twins get a insurance run agst Kennedy in the 7th or 8th. Nathan makes it intersting in the end only to strike out Chavez as the tying run is on base.

Santana is annoyed with the lack of Twinkie offense. He pinch hits for Morneau in the bottom of the eleventh and breaks up Oaklands no-hitter. Yea baby, walk-off dinger for Yo!

Twins 1-0

Its not that I want the Twins to lose, they ask for predictions and that is mine.As of late it seems they are a little short on hitting and without a doubt clutch hitting.

Talk about doing well,Jeter went 5/5.Now is the time you have to pick up your game.

Yesterday they went 0/8 by the eight with risp.Hard to win games doing that every now and then.

With all this said, they will have a great day as that is how it usually goes.

GO TWINS smile.gif

Will the Twins learn from yesterdays mistakes? If not, they lose 5-4. Bats need to hit and Gardy needs to pull his head out of his @&%*& and make some solid decisions or this series is over.

I agree as soon as Castillo learns how to bunt like he has thru the whole season...and Jason Bartlett re-learns how to run the bases we should be alright...oh and Crain needs to learn not to throw a a belt high fast ball just off the inside corner to the Biggest Blackest Baseball player in the league.....uhhhhhh just the thought of the big hurt batting erks me! wink.gif

I'm soooooooooo with Duffman.

Let's settle down. The first game jitters should be gone now. Patience boys, patience at the plate. Take the pitcher deeper into the count.

Twins 8

A's 3

I am looking for a win today, yesterdays game to me just left me and the Twins a little bit on the short end. Series is not already lost, that is why they play best of 5 so the best team plays on. Give the Twins a chance, lots of first time experience going on here, Let them settle down and enjoy playing in front of 45,000 plus and playoff atmosphere. Think positive here, what's that line? you dance with who you came with.. Let Gardy manage, there are a lot of teams watching not playing..Enjoy the game..

Well lets see, Yesterday according to most of metro tv and radio shows the Twins were a lock with Santana going, I heard guarantee all day Monday. Today with the not so touted Bonsor going, I don't hear the guarantees, so I'm picking the Twins 6-4.

The Twins have played better all year with there backs to the wall--I say 6 to 3 Twins.

At least they're taking better at-bats today...I lost hope early with the wild swings against Zito yesterday, they're more patient & hitting the ball hard today. They need to start hitting some holes soon, tho.

runners on, need a big hit to get some runs.....

same result as yesterday I really hope we get some runs today, going 0-2 is not what we need. Although the twins have overcome bigger things, lets not get there

Following online at work, so I was wondering if it was a "Roof ball" or if Hunter tried to snag one and it got past....just not smart baseball.

What's Mauer's LOB count up to??

Tried to dive, not even close. Probably one of the stupidest decisions I have ever seen in baseball. The situation did not call for it.

It was a low sinking liner to short center. Hunter came in hard and it looked like he realized too late that he was coming in too fast to make any other play than dive for it. He was 2 feet off from the ball, not even close. The ball rolled all the way to the wall and Hunter just sat on the turf as the guy rounded the bases.

Very low, probably 2 feet lower than last year at ice out.

what do they look like this spring?

I might have missed a guess, but here are the ones that I noted:   JerkinLips – March 27th, then April 7th Brianf. – March 28th Bobberwatcher – April…. MikeG3Boat – April 10th SkunkedAgain – early April, then April 21st   Definitely a tough year for guesses, as it seemed to be a no-brainer early ice out. Then it got cold and snowed again.

      No, that wasn't me.  I drive a 621 Ranger.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!
    • Brianf.
Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
