minnewaska fall walleyes

4 posts in this topic

I was wandering if there's anyone out trying for walleyes?

3 weeks ago, we found them in 6-8 ft. Are they still in there?

I was getting them as shallow as 3.5 and as deep as 13 a week and a half ago. Since then I have been out 3 times and it has been like somebody hit the light switch to the off position. There has been a lot of activity off the public beach the last week. I have talked to a number of those people and the reports were really poor as well.

Thanks for the info. Is there any word on the Starbuck end? There are some decent spots down there I know. Were you referring to the beach in Glenwood? I've heard that's a go to area.

I have not heard anything from the Starbuck side. I will be working my way down there on thursday night though. And yes I was referring to the public beach on the Glenwood side and it was a bust the last 3 times I was there. As a matter of fact on Mondaynight even the shore fisherman left. It kinda seems like monkey see monkey do. I think we have all been guilty of that though I know I have.

Most of our fish came on minnows under bobbers. I spooked countless fish with even subtle jigging.

I never made it out Monday was too tired from fishing Friday - sunday didn't feel like getting up early

Hey, Here a quick update on actual ice thickness or snow cover on trout. 14 inchs of ice pressure ridge out there. if you are  on a snowmobile if traveling fast on it watch for it. Truck or car i do not recommend on trout with pressure ridge. And yes i have been on the whitefish chain this year in truck. just not on trout. just my 2 cents

Thanks for the info everyone. And Borch that is good to know too.  I try to spend 2-3 hours looking on cedar each trip, but It's a lot of water to break down , and having only been out hardwater cattin 6 times so far I still have a lot to learn.  Generally I spend a lot of my 3 hours losing confidence and then wind up at the meth hole to catch a few .  Putting in the work is what makes it so fun once it all comes together though!
