The river bite is jumping!!

3 posts in this topic

A few friends and I fished the river on shore Saturday night till about 1 A.M. We had a great time out there and we caught alot of Sturgeons! The biggest being 4lbs. We also caught the usual Sheaphead, Carp and Catfish. But the fun fish was catching a 10lbs. Buffalo fish! The fight was awesome for my friend. He also lost a bigger fish that got off. Everytime the fish would come by shore it would take off to the middle of the river. We only got a glance of the fin of the fish, but we still don't know what it was! either way it was awesome!!! I love the fall bite on the river, makes for a great time! Just curious on how everyone else is doing out there! Is there other places to fish on shore near the Shakopee area? Thanks!

Nothing too special, just the usual night crawlers! I am hoping the next time we go out that the flat heads will be bigger then the ones we were catching! I wouldn't mind catching a 20lbs. Until next time!!

Leech, we're getting out feet wet then we can post within topics. Glem,  What will help you are trolling boards and rod holders.  I use a mast and main line board system but Inline boards work and a lot of guys use them and something for you to consider. Some stick baits to consider are Bombers, Brads, X Raps, Husky Jerks.  Spoons- Jim's Flashbacks, Moonshine.  Patterns/Colors- Pink, Purple, Monkey Puke, 57 Chevy, Pink Lemonade, Water Melon are just a few.  Superior is color specific like no other body of water so it pays to have a variety. Speed can also be critical in getting a strike and then you have to think about was it the rise or fall within the column that was responsible.   Last year you'd catch me at 3mph pulling sticks which isn't the norm.

Shorelander trailers are assembled right next door to Lunds. The serial # on the trailers are assigned a boat serial # after they are delivered.  All Lunds and Crestliners leave the factory on Shorelander trailers. With the exception of a dealer occasionally picking up just the boat itself.

Try giving Modern Assemblies in New York Mills, Mn a call.  They are the ones that built those seats for Lund. The can probably rebuild them for you to original. They do nice work at a reasonable price.

I've been out shore fishing a couple times at Hidden Falls and Minnehaha up to the dam.  Been really slow for me too.  Going out again this morning for the first time in a couple weeks.  Hoping to find a better bite as I've been hearing slightly better reports from boaters in the area.
