Bears have played two cupcakes that have no chance of making the playoffs. Vikings have played a playoff team and a predicted superbowl team. Vikings will probably split with the Bears this year but the Bears will not win at the dome Vikings 24 the Bears 10.

Like I said in an earlier post, both Washington and Carolina played without their top offensive player. And to add everything you've said about the Vikings opponents is all based on preseason. Look at Washington and Carolina's combined record 0-4. They are not very good teams this year, and neither team will come close to making the playoffs. I agree the Vikings are a better team this year, but you guys will come back down to earth after the Bears game.

For those of you willing I will make a 1 week avatar bet with you guys. Bears win you must change your avatar to a Packer friendly logo, If the Vikings win I will put up a Vikings one. Who's gonna accept the challenge?

I can only assume a betting man such as yourself would give the 3 points that the Bears are favored by correct?

I love it when a Packer fan jumps on the Bears bandwagon! Classic!

I'll take those three points and my vikes.... no guts no glory.... while we are at it why don't we bet on the packers game? I'll take whomever they are playing and give you the points..

Heck DTE, I'll take that bet just cuz it sounds fun. Advance warning for ya that if you win you have to teach me how to post an avitar cuz I have no flippin clue.

Buzz, I think the pack are playing my high school team. My high school team is favored by a touchdown.

Granted I did predict the Bears to win the NFC North last year, but not really a bandwagon jumper. Will stick with the Pack through thick and thin. Well, very thin right now. Actually since I've lived in MN now for 7 years I watch the Vikes on a regular basis and like to see them win as well, except when they play the Packers, of course. Its nice to see you guys finally have an owner dedicated to the team and willing to put together a competent coaching staff to get things done. I've been very impressed with the Wilf regime so far.

I just think at this point in time the Bears are head and shoulders above the NFC North, and two mediocre wins against two below average teams in the NFL aren't convincing me the Vikings are going to win this game. The only thing they have going for them is its at home, but I don't think it will be enough.

Packers are at Detroit this week. Not a good success record there for the Pack, but I'll take you counter offer. What are the points? I assume the Lions are favored.

Before the season began, nobody considered Washington and Carolina below average teams. The Purple could be 0-2 like the Packers very easily, but we're not. grin.gif I think grossman will be pounded on by the Purple defense this weekend. He is playing way over his head. The Vikings will win this one 24-13.

If something mysterious happens to Mushi Mohammed ala Harding/Kerrigan, I'm pretty sure the first stop by the investigators will be at Buzz's place.

Funny Geno! I just benched Muhammed on my fantasy team and inserted Javon Walker in his place.

The Lions are favored by 7 points.

Panther are pick by most to win it all. And Both teams Washington and the pathers were missing only 1 of thier top offenceive players.

Tom

Only one top player? The Redskins are not the same team when Clinton Portis is not at 90%+. Not even close. Takes a great team to suck up a loss like that. My team (the Skins) are not one of those teams. Not when Grampa Brunell only shows up every third week.

Buzz

I look forward to your avatar. You're a good sport. Maybe you could bet garage door murals for the Soldier Field game? Only one comment on the game. The Vikes looked solid, especially on D. They will remain in the hunt. I won't blame the loss on the refs, but they were FAR too involved in the first three quarters IMO. That PI call was just pathetic.

I agree Spinner, I'm in no way blaming the refs for the outcome, but the freegin refs missed a simple call where there guy waved his hand on a punt return for a free catch and then ran it back... no flag!! They showed that replay like five times on the big screen at the dome and even looked at the replay and still didn't throw the flag... the pass interference call was a crime! Anyways, the Vikes/Bears game was a push based on the 3 point spread, but the packers beat the Lions so I'll ask... what avatar would you like me to upload? grin.gif

Here you go Buzzsaw.

A great game to watch. I thought the Vikes had it wrapped up there. I wasn't going to bring it up, but since someone did, may have been you, I thought the refereeing was poor the whole game. I'm getting more and more impressed with the Vikings Defense, but they need to find a way to score touchdowns instead of FG on their drives. Hopefully they'll rebound on the road next week at Buffalo.

Pier has provided a nice selection of Brett action shots to choose from. Thanks Pier, I never realized just how hot he is. smile.gif Now get one of them posted up Buzz. One of my best friends is a huge Bear fan. I gotta drag him over to see it. grin.gif

Don't worry Buzzsaw, its only a week. If you want a redo next week I'm in. When do the lines come out?

The football gods giveth (carolina turnover) and they taketh away (unforced fumble). Man, the game was in hand. If chester takes that hand off cleanly and they punt no way chicago wins that game. Just my opinion.

I said the same thing to my friend as we were walking out of the dome!! His whinning was killing me!! It was a tough loss, but at the same time we played with them and better than them at times.... I DO NOT fear the Bears, I do however respect them. Fear was facing those 49er teams with Montana/Young to Rice!!

DTE,

Fear was what was most on the minds of every offense in the NFL in 1985 when they saw the little CHI next to their team's name on the schedule...Agreed? DA BEARS! Windy

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
