I don't understand Gardy at all. Does he just plain suck at managing? We all know Crain cannot get the job done!!!

Ok, it's one thing to second guess the manager the day after, that's what keyboard warriors and KFAN callers do. But to say Gardy sucks at managing is just plain ignorant.

The Twins have a miserly owner and a low budget. They have 2 bona fide studs in the field and one of the better closers in baseball. That's it. The fact that the Twins are contenders simply amazes me. From the front office to on field management, this is simply dollar for dollar the best run organization in baseball. I am enjoying every minute of this season.

"Trade this guy, bench this guy blah blah blah".....second guess all you want.....but just once in awhile look around at all the high buck teams that really do suck and appreciate what we've got right here. Enjoy the ride!

there's no denying that jesse's been the guy on the mound an awful lot lately when the game has ended. I don't get it why he gets used in these key spots where we need outs but apparently gardy doesn't think he has anybody else?

does this mean that we can officially call jesse the new closer on the team? he's closed out more games than nathan quite a bit lately.

I keep hearing this yacking about how great the Twinks do on a limited budget with a payroll half that of my Pale Hose. So tell me this guys, the most expensive ticket at the Cell is $65, parking is $22 and a beer is $6.50. Can I assume that you are paying about $30 for your best ticket in the Baggie Dome and what does a glass of suds set you back? Just asking!

I am sure that you will find a few of us that agree with you, not all are negative Nellie's.

Right Garyc?? grin

Right on Ude T. I think there is a forum under Il if you want to be a Negative Nelly. I am sure there is plenty down there. gringrin

Hey everyone has bad days and this is an offensive game, so us only having 2 runs and have your relievers come in night after night to protect a 1 run lead versus a 3 or 4 run lead. Things can happen, and will. The batters are up to hit the ball and very capable of doing so. That is why they get paid the big bucks. Everything will fall into place once the bats start producing, and we won't be in this position much.

The issue I don't understand is the ERA on the road versus at home. Very confusing. I wonder if the mound is closer or father away then the dome. (just kidding).

GO TWINS and Keep the faith boys. Work with what you have.

I'm sick and tired of seeing these bums come in from the bullpen! Guerrier, Ayala, Crain...it's time for Mr. Smith to go shopping before the seasons lost. That bluff Granderson did to Crain doesn't even work in Little League.

Thanks for the correction, however it was only a figure of speech. I think you knew that though.

After the past week this guy doesn't deserve another chance, send him down and bring up what ever reliever in AAA that looks good latly.

Even though I didn't get to see the end of the game, I can tell by the title of the thread and a few of the comments what happened, lol. I have been sick of Crain for years. I really don't think I've ever seen him pitch 1 good inning, at least I don't remember anyway. I agree about sending him to the minors and taking ANY random player instead of him. I think Crain would even get rocked in the minors.

Only time Crain can get someone out is when he picks someone off at first, and even then the umpire calls him safe. He was clearly out. Justin usually doesn't say much about anything, but he did that time. Then the next batter crushes a line drive off his arse, ouch! That guy is unlucky!

So some kind of decision has to be made when Perkins comes off the DL. I doubt it will be Swazak.

The umping lately has been horrid.

MLB needs to take a serious look at the shrinking strike zone.

You've just got to think the team has to be seriously dumping this chump, don't you? Seems that the coaching staff is afraid to use him in situations that really matter and even when they bring him in in mop up duty, he can't pitch an innning without giving up at least a run or more.

He had some success last year, I guess they are waiting for that to show up.

Myself, I turn the game off immediately when he gets the call. I've seen enough. Not only is he absolutely terrible, I can't stand watching him with that stupid rope around his neck. Also after every pitch that huge chain and hub cap needs to be tucked back into his shirt/jersey. I can't take him for one pitch.

Sorry Jesse!!

What a bum! It really [PoorWordUsage] me off that Bill Smith did not address the bullpen situation after last season. The Twins will not make the playoffs unless there bullpen improves. If Crain and Ayala don't show improvement by the end of June, it is time to cut ties with them and call up some of the young guns from the minors.

I'm not there, so I can't tell exactly what's going on but it looks like a large area of open water developed in the last day with all of the heavy snow on the east side of wake em up Narrows. These two photos are from my Ring Camera facing north towards Niles Point.  You can see what happened with all of snow that fell in the last three days, though the open water could have been wind driven. Hard to say. .

Black Bay had great ice before but a few spots near rockpiles where there were spots of open water. It looks like the weight of the snow has created a little lake in the middle of the bay.

On the south end...   Thanks to some cold spring weather, ice fishing continues strong for those still ice fishing.  The bite remains very good.  Most resorts have pulled their fish houses off for the year, however, some still have fish houses out and others are allowing ATV and side by sides.  Check social media or call ahead to your favorite resort for specifics. Reports this week for walleyes and saugers remain excellent.   A nice mix of jumbo perch, pike, eelpout, and an occasional crappie, tullibee or sturgeon being reported by anglers. Jigging one line and using a live minnow on the second line is the way to go.  Green, glow red, pink and gold were good colors this week.     Monster pike are on a tear!  Good number of pike, some reaching over 45 inches long, being caught using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring in 8 - 14' of water.   As always, work through a resort or outfitter for ice road conditions.  Safety first always. Fish houses are allowed on the ice through March 31st, the walleye / sauger season goes through April 14th and the pike season never ends. On the Rainy River...  The river is opened up along the Nelson Park boat ramp in Birchdale, the Frontier boat ramp and Vidas boat ramp.  This past week, much of the open water skimmed over with the single digit overnight temps.   Areas of the river have popped open again and with temps getting warmer, things are shaping up for the last stretch through the rest of the spring season, which continues through April 14th.   Very good numbers of walleyes are in the river.  Reports this week, even with fewer anglers, have been good.  When temps warm up and the sun shines, things will fire up again.   Jigs with brightly colored plastics or jigs with a frozen emerald shiner have been the desired bait on the river.  Don't overlook slow trolling crankbaits upstream as well.   Good reports of sturgeon being caught on the river as well.  Sturgeon put the feed bag on in the spring.  The bite has been very good.  Most are using a sturgeon rig with a circle hook loaded with crawlers or crawlers / frozen emerald shiners. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing is winding down up at the Angle.  Walleyes, saugers, and a number of various species in the mix again this week.  The bite is still very good with good numbers of fish.  The one two punch of jigging one line and deadsticking the second line is working well.   Check with Angle resorts on transport options from Young's Bay.  Call ahead for ice road guidelines.

With the drifting, kind of hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing about a foot and still lightly snowing. Cook end!

How much snow did you get on Vermilion?
    • Mike89
lake here refroze too...  started opening again yesterday with the wet snow and wind...  very little ice left today...
    • Hookmaster
A friend who has a cabin between Alex and Fergus said the lake he's on refroze. He texted me a pic from March 12th when it was open and one from 23rd when it wasn't. 🤯
    • SkunkedAgain
I don't think that there has been any ice melt in the past few weeks on Vermilion. Things looked like a record and then Mother Nature swept in again.   I'll give my revised guess of April 21st

As I get older it's really not just about sending bullets down range.  Some of it's just the workmanship of the gun and the wow factor. The other two guns I have really wanted which I'll never have now because of their price, is a 8mm Jap Nambu and 9mm German Luger.   Just thought they always looked cool!

I had a guy hit me with a lightly used 1969 BAR, he wanted $1650 with an older Leupold scope. More than I think they are worth, I made an offer, he declined end of story.   You know if you look at the old brochures, a grade II BAR sold for $250 in the late 60s, $1650 would be a good return on your investment.    Why would anybody want a 50 year old gun, they are heavy, have wood stocks, and blued metal.  I guess mainly to keep their gun safes glued to the floor. lol   You can probably buy a stainless rifle that you never have to clean, with a synthetic stock you never have to refinish, is as light as a feather, and for half as much money, perfect.   I'm too old for a youth gun, although I've shrunk enough that it would probably fit. lol   No Ruger 10/44s.   Jim
