If he's doing what he's hired to do, he is earning his money. He would be more of a bargain though if the rest of the team played to his level.

ok, relax...Nathan can't pitch everyday anyways. Just ask Brewers fans, because Yost kills their closers.

Nathan is what 2nd in the AL in saves. Hes 9 for 9 and getting used enough.

I guess I just really like seein him pitch! He has quite the pre-pitch routine that is just cool to watch! So, yeah I would like to see him every day even though I can't!

Now you want nathan closing. Wasn't all that long ago you wanted him gone and neshak closing.

Give crain some time. He was dominant and will only get stronger.

"Repeat: Why can't $12 million Nathan come in and get 4 outs?"

Because, with their bullpen, they don't need him to. These days, it's all about pitch counts and innings management. They are trained to perform in a very specific way and deviating from that train of thought messes with their minds. Thsi is what keeps them the most consistant throughout the year. Twins, more than any other team in baseball, seems to have this down to a science.

I like this Bass - really a long inning reliever at his finest. Hopefully he can grow in that role.

First Place twins!

You cant keep throwing these guys out there at the expense of the team. If you are gonna throw these guys out there day after day, you might as well just bring some young guys up and let them get experience while they are getting shelled.

I wish I managed the Twins...when baker comes back my rotation would look like this.

Livan

Baker

Blackburn

Slowey

Perkins

Boof Bonser to AAA.

Crain and Rincon released.

Bass= Long range reliever

Korecky= fill in

Guerrier= set up man/Reyes set up to lefties

Nathan= closer with more 8th inning action.

When Span gets healthy call him up and switch him out with Cuddyer every day, when Span isnt in the field, he can DH.

When Tolbert is healthy have him play permanent 2nd or short. Punto every day SS pr 2b.

Lamb 3b for now.

Everett= released

I agree with Bonser to AAA, he just hasn't got it done this year.

I also like the idea of getting rid of Everett. He is just plain TERRIBLE!

After releasing Crain and Rincon, who do we call up?? Really doesn't matter though, they will do better than those two!

Span is awesome in AAA, so that might work too! Would be tough to lose Cuddy's cannon in RF though...

Sled, you might wanna send in an application! wink

Why? Boof always gets shelled in the first inning...imagine him coming out of the bullpen...ewwww

Gardy says that as soon as he gets a starter back, one of the current starters will have to go to the bullpen. Boof or Slowley???

Id keep slowey in the rotation. Boof hasnt done anything to prove he deserves to remain a starter. Time to give the other guys a longer shot.

Slowey for sure. Just look at what he did against Detroit (6IP, 4H, 0R, 0ER) compared to Boof (3IP, 7H, 9R, 8ER) the next night. I can't take Boof anymore, he has had plenty of chances...

I disagree with bringing in Nathan more in the 8th. His arm is trained for the ninth and I don't think it would help him to stretch that because of possible negative effects.

Hard to believe Crain's ERA is still in the mid 3's... Must inherit a lot of runners and let them score!

This sums it up fairly well...

For the bullpen, with its 5.88 road ERA vs. a 2.00 ERA at home, eek

Good ole homecooking.

Man do you hate Yankee Stadium as much as Gardy and the twins...they can never win there.

Hopefully if we make the playoffs the yankees won't!

You have to wonder how long they are gonna let Crain keep Rinconing the games away before they dump him. We need to put him in a trade package in the offseason.

      With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

      On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

      Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

      Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
