we hunt all over around benson, up towards starbuck, over towards morris, and down towards appleton. there are lots of geese this year; but they have been really tough to pattern, seeming to change what fields they go to and what routes they take based on weather. basically we picked our two best fields and have been running traffic so far with lots of birds circling, and the few that have finished have gotten whacked. ive been out 4 times this season and have gotten 12 so far, with many more birds laughing at my shooting skills.

I crossed over to the dark side of smallies about 15 years ago. Mostly chase pannies in winter but used to chase eyes a few times on the hard water each season.   I could post a ton of pics if you need more proof.

Sorry to make you hold up a bottom feeder, but we needed to see it!

I was up over the weekend and my shoreline was getting pretty sketchy.  Had a pocket of open water down the shore about a 100 yards. Where I could see the bottom in two to three feet of water.  Walked out about a hundred yards and popped four holes Saturday afternoon. There was 17- 18.5"s of ice in those four holes. Looking at the forecast I can't see the ice sticking around too much longer.  The holes I popped had 5-6" of pretty mushy cloudy stuff on top and about 12"s of pretty solid stuff underneath it.
