I just though I should say thank you to all who put time in to cleaning up Lake Volney. It is very quickly becomming the clearist lake in this part of the state once again. I could almost swear from one week to the next I can see anouther foot deeper. Thanks again!

I believe that everyone who lives on Volney also belongs to the Lake Volney Association for which they pay dues to help with clean up efforts. One thing that was done last year was that the DNR dumped a bunch of carbon in the lake to help control the algae bloom paid for by the association, for which we are seeing the effects of more this year.

I crossed over to the dark side of smallies about 15 years ago. Mostly chase pannies in winter but used to chase eyes a few times on the hard water each season.   I could post a ton of pics if you need more proof.

Sorry to make you hold up a bottom feeder, but we needed to see it!

I was up over the weekend and my shoreline was getting pretty sketchy.  Had a pocket of open water down the shore about a 100 yards. Where I could see the bottom in two to three feet of water.  Walked out about a hundred yards and popped four holes Saturday afternoon. There was 17- 18.5"s of ice in those four holes. Looking at the forecast I can't see the ice sticking around too much longer.  The holes I popped had 5-6" of pretty mushy cloudy stuff on top and about 12"s of pretty solid stuff underneath it.
