Bear rug

7 posts in this topic

I am hoping to get a bear skin this year. Does any one know of a good place to get it made into a rug in west central Minnesota. If I have to, I will go any where to get it done right.

What ever advice you get, be sure to check it out before you make a move. My first bear turned out excellent. However that guy went to Alaska. My second bear someone recommened this joker. When I got it back, after two years, it looked like somebodys Black Lab that was starved. Nobody to blame but myself.

mark Arnold out of Detroit Lakes does awesome work and if you ever get up in that area he will show you his show room and he does awesome work. His business is Toad Lake Taxadermy and he lives out on Hwy 34 towards Park Rapids. Give him a jingle if your ever interested. Only problem is it does take some time because he does get a lot of people to come to him and best bet is too look him up and call ahead ot set a time up to meet with him.

Jeff Lannoye From Thief River Falls MN Dose Awsome work, He;s done two bears for me an I will recommend him highly. I've seen his work with a full mount grizzly, two full mount black bears squaring off against each other an numerous heads an shoulder and three quater mount black bear. Seen lots of whitetail an elk that are extreamly nicley done. He's done lots of work for people in the metro area. I can give you his number if ya want. Later Boar

Got one over 40in on a small local lake like 3-4 yrs back , 2lb line...fishing panfish. Got a pic up in the St cloud reports somewhere. But biggest was just shy of 43 on Rainey River about 20 yrs ago

If you make up it up this way at all I'll have the peg on a good bite somewhere. Sometimes traveling a little farther north makes ice fishing more enjoyable. Keep on posting, we have tons of well educated anglers that roam these forums!

I'm slacking bud, I haven't done any of that yet lol. The excitement is here though, been talking to some co-workers lately about all things ice fishing. Soon enough guys!!

My troubles are that even with the hyfax on the slides the munchkin take a little bit of a kick to get started.    My sled does not have studs and has carbides on the skis. So when I hook up to the house with the tow bar the track spins without breaking the house loose. It's like hooking it to a truck. Too much power on the sled side and no ability to transfer it to forward motion.    The 4-wheeler with chains has zero problems. Pulls it like it's not even there.

I'd like to see this expanded to help revive our pike size and population.
