No Riggers

3 posts in this topic

Looking for some advice for my father and some old timers (no to insult anyone) he is taking up to the big lake. He does have a good size boat but no riggers and the guys he is going with probally will not be into the lead core thing. Maybe some good bait fishing spots out of the south end on the east side that might be a good choice this time of year.

Jigs, and minnows on top, or along side of the rocks. Use your graph to find the fish, and work 'em. As a suggested area, try Arnesens reef,Gull rock reef, or 12 mile reef. If you fish out of Zipple, try the open water just outside of the river bouy. Fourmile bay, or the gap if fishing out of the rainey river area. good luck and tight lines<><

I agree with 2 Pounder. Try Arnesen's reef. A few weeks back, all the fish were on the edges in 28-30 feet of water. Stay as close to the reef as you can, but stay in the deep water. The fishing isn't fast and furious, but you will get some. There are some big fish out there too.

With the wind being fairly strong today I opted to hit the back waters of Little Rock. Have done goid there in yrs past.... so I figured it would be worth a shot. Finding crappies was pretty easy, they were holding tight to the brush and downed trees. Finding crappies over 8inches was tough...lol.  I don't think I broke 9inches. But did manage one big carp. Guessing right around 30in, pulled me and the yak all over the lake before I got it boat side

Hit the one down by Watkins a couple times this winter. There were a lot of people that fished it this last winter. Got gills and crappies of all different sizes. If your looking for keeper size fish, other area lakes will provide better numbers. Haven't been on the other one of  in a few yrs. There were good numbers of 6-7in sunfish if I remember right.

Looking to get a different depth finder for my boat, one with GPS and side imaging. I have $650 to spend, and have found a new Helix 7 SI and a used 998c SI HD with about 800 hours on it.  They both are $600.  Which one would you get and why?   Thanks!
