Saturday Lake Zumbro Report

1 post in this topic

I went out Saturday from about noon to 4:00 and managed to do quite well on bluegills and white bass. The water was obviously high (up about 2') and looked like chocolate milk starting at Rusch's Bay and going UPstream from there. The debris was horrible and looked every bit as bad as it does at ice out. We ended up fishing in Ryan's Bay and found the water fairly clear.

In one spot, we were catching white bass on spoons, jigs, and also with a bobber and piece of nightcrawler. We also caught them all over the bay trolling rapalas. In the other spot we tried, we caught a lot of bluegills, all in the 7-8.5 inch size. The bluegills were actually holding very tight to some flooded shoreline. We also managed one 15" largemouth and one 14.5" smallmouth.

The bonus was that it was nice and peaceful out there due to the no wake signs!
