Shakopee Launch is Closed

7 posts in this topic

Just a heads up to you guys fishing out of Shakopee.

We launched friday night to fish the BP Cat League and there are road construction "road closed" signs with a sign indicating that the boat launch is closed as well. We drove around and launched anyway and didn't get ticketed. However, it appears that there is some significant work about to be done on that side and I'd imagine the launch will be down for awhile.

Got to love it. Belle Plaine & Shakopee both being closed at the same time.

The sign said that the ramp is being reconstructed on the north side of the river. Hopefully we can continue to get around the road closed signs for a little while longer.

Looking forward to the "new" ramp though.

Hey Wastewater,

Howed you come out last friday. I was hoping you would have swung down by us. It was nice meeting you at the launch. Sorry I thought you were someone else for a second. smirk.gif

We got a really nice channel cat and a couple carp. Had 3 or 4 wimpy runs but no flats. That was kind of a waste of some beautiful bait.....Let me know if ya want to hit that stretch together one of these nights.

I was about to head down there 4:30, 5 a.m. tommorrow morning. I don't want to drive from Apple Valley to find out I can't get around the construction anymore. What about Jordan? There is a launch there right?

I would say it is definitely closed as of Friday night 8-26-06. Possibly you could launch by going over the curb, but you could also get a ticket. The police are patrolling, and the road is totally blocked off. We ended up launching by I35, and Jordan would be the another option.

5/29/17 Fishing report from Flag Island Resort NW Angle, Lake of the Woods   Happy Memorial Day!   The past week has brought some variation in weather including sunshine, wind and rain. Overall fishing has been good.  The bug hatches have started with the fish flies having some impact on the fishing but, anglers are still consistently getting limits.   On the Minnesota side, the walleye, sauger, pike and perch bite continues. The magic depths have been between 7-13 feet in the mud and 16-26 feet on rocks. The Flag Island Flats are starting to heat up. Other hot locations include points and near shore reefs. Just the same as last week all tactics have had their day. Jigging, raps and spinners have all been producing once you find what is working. The water temp is around 58 degrees.   Over in Ontario anglers are still catching a nice mixed bag of walleye, sauger, crappie, perch, pike and smallmouth bass. The crappies are moving shallower getting ready to spawn. Some depths according to their species are as follows; Smallmouth bass 2-8 feet, Walleyes 20-24 feet and Sauger 26-30 feet. Points, reefs, humps, areas with current, rock piles and inside turns have all worked when looking for locations. A jig or spinner with a minnow or crawler has worked best. The hot colors have been gold, pink and orange.   Until next week, good luck fishing! Guides, Dan Schmidt, Jeremy Glessing and Cale Albers Flag Island Resort 218-223-8011

Sunday, different lake, different observations. I saw a few beds, but there were not any fish on them. I caught about two dozen gills and only one was female.

Just talked to a buddy with an Ultera issue. He damaged the belt when he secured the motor head to his boat using a ram mount. Others I talked to said keep an eye on the belt tension. It is adjustable with an allen wrench.

Yup!  I can see how that would be annoying!    Welcome to Fishing Minnesota though.  Glad to see your posts.

Got out on Saturday along with my brother who went out in his boat. So much mud that we went our separate ways searching for better water. With 3 in his boat he caught 5 Coho and 5 Lake Trout. I found a nice spot and went 2/5 before the wind messed up the spot. Sunday morning went out with my brother to the same spot and had a double before the third line was out. Ended up going 7/11 before a storm with red in it chased us off the lake. Loonasea was correct on the nice size of the Coho's right now. All fish were caught with stick baits on top.
