If I want a good replica made (say of a Musky) what kind of data do I need to collect?

I would think a good solid length, girth done in 1/4's and try to get some photos for different angles (trying to show markings), maybe a jaw width measurement if possible.

Naturally the health of the fish being most important, but I'd get as much as I could. You know no sense in a replica when the fish is dead.

Someday I hope to catch one worthy of a replica.

Good pictures, length, girth, special features, lake caught in and what time of year. The more pics of different parts of the fish the better.

Agreed.  One thing that drew me too lakers was their mysterious nature and the places they live.  Kind of a sacred type of fish.   I also agree the DNR will basically ignore any additional specialized management until an organized group starts advocating for lakers.  There just hasn't been a large enough following up till the past few years like you mentioned.   So, what's next?  It seems like laker fans are here to stay.

How are folks dealing with this warm weather spell? Are you still fishing even though the temps are well above freezing? At what point is ice deemed unsafe?

Well it looks like Recycled Fish is under new leadership! I talked to them and they say that they will have the shirts back for the 2017/2018 fishing season

That's what I have been reading after more research I will probably replace my thermal with one when the time comes but for now I am looking for a smaller lighter house I can use when by myself. Better than canvas craft is saying something!
