Taking the wife fishing

4 posts in this topic

Hey guys,

My wonderful wife suggested we go to my cousins rustic cabin along birch beach near long point. Our first getaway since 1999. She even wants to go fishing part of the time. Any advice on where we can go for a good steady bite to have fun. I have fished in winter there but never open water. Anything close to shore around long point, birch beach or arneson's? I want her to have a great time so SHE asks me to go fishing more often grin.gif We will be there Aug 17th -20th. Any help on location, presentation etc would be appreciated!

Thanks for the help!

Right now there is a great trolling bite going on out in the deep water. Right out in front of where you are staying might not be a bad place to start. Working your way towards Long Point and the reefs in that area would be an option as well. If she's not into that. Jigging on top or around any reef should produce some action for you. Weather will play a role in what types of fishing you can do. Good Luck!

Anybody getting any fish hook and lining out on 12 mile or anywhere out by Arnesen's reef or Gull Rock reef?

Was out Monday and didn't do much. Five fish in the boat, lost three. Lots of algae everywhere. Trolled cranks around Arnesons, Pedros and 16 mile. Marked lots of fish in areas, but not alot of action. Weather in the area last weekend may have had an impact, but that is my only excuse.

later,
