SOLD - Otter sled/fish house - SOLD

Recommended Posts

Mark Christianson

Its about 6 years old. Very little use.

I dont recall what model it was considered when I bought it, but its about the same size as the current Otter Pro Small Cottage which sells for about $350 MSRP.

It has 2 small holes(about dime sized).

Now that my son is getting older and interested in ice fishing, I am in a position where this one just doesnt have enough room to fish 2 people comfortably for long periods.

Asking $175. I have pictures if you want.

Send me an email if you have any questions.

Do you have that in Battle Lake? I could come by sometime... only problem is, I teach and am leaving RIGHT NOW for the convention in Mpls. I won't be back until Saturday.... I don't want to string you along that long...

Whatever you prefer. It's just that I gotta go... you probably won't hear from me again for a few days. If you can sell it before then, it's just my bad luck.

Looks good, tho. My first choice might be for something more like the Medium Cabin size: lg. 1-man, sm. 2-man, but this would be a good back up for solo days.

Make yer sale before then, if you can. I'll be checking the posts as often as I can while on the road.

biglakeba$$:

I am sorry to leave you hanging so long, but I am going to have to pass on this one... Actually, I am surprised to see that you let it ride out there without selling, waiting for me to get back. I am truly grateful for that!!

But like I said earlier, the Medium Cabin size is really what I was focused on originally, probably for the same reason that you are moving up in size this year. That was cemented for me when I visited the new Cabelas in Rogers this weekend on the way home from the Cities. I sat in the one the same size as yours (Cottage), and knew that I couldn't make it my main house and don't have the space or $$$ for two. (Actually, my wife was with me and was the one encouraging me to go ahead with the bigger one!! Can't argue with that!!)

So I'll leave it to some other lucky FM'er to steal yours.

FM'ers: Buy with confidence. Once you look at the pics, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Hey congrats to you both! I was starting to feel a little guilty that I may have originally slowed down the sale and it wasn't going to get done. Good fishin'!

Ahh yes, the Cool Cats!  I remember the first one!  Glad to hear this is still going on. I spend a lot of time on the Horseshoe Chain, but unfortunately I won't be able to make this event.  However, I would like to donate some items on behalf of Clam Outdoors.  Shoot me an email on where I can send them and I'll get some items sent out... mjohnson at iceteam.com. Thanks and have fun out there!!

Tom Heinrich, who most recently was the large lake specialist covering Lake of the Woods for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, will now supervise Mille Lacs Lake fisheries management. “We’re pleased that Tom Heinrich has accepted this new role. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from other large walleye lakes in Minnesota and elsewhere, strong scientific skills and an open ability to communicate with and relate to various groups in the public,” said Brad Parsons, central region fisheries manager. Heinrich begins as Mille Lacs Lake fisheries supervisor on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the office in Garrison. He will oversee the extensive field operations that happen throughout the course of the year to assess fish populations and harvests; work with fisheries research and other partners to study walleye productivity; study the potential impacts of big fish on young walleye survival; review goals for spawning stock biomass; and coordinate other work needed to answer complex questions about the lake. “This is an important position because Mille Lacs always has been a vital and popular fishery and there is still a lot to learn about the lake and the changes we are seeing. Adding Tom to the team to perform the detailed, complex work needed will benefit the resource, the DNR and groups with an interest in the lake,” Parsons said. Heinrich begins his new role as the DNR continues efforts to understand and improve a walleye population in Mille Lacs Lake that has undergone a decline over the past two decades that has coincided with significant aquatic system changes including increased water clarity and decreased walleye productivity; the introduction of zebra mussels, Eurasian watermilfoil and spiny water fleas; a changing zooplankton community that may be altering the aquatic food web; and declines in certain forage species, including tullibee. Heinrich began his natural resources career in New York as a fisheries technician on eastern Lake Erie and worked in that role from 1984 until 1990, when he accepted a position in Baudette for the Minnesota DNR. In 1991, he became the large lake specialist for Lake of the Woods and has been in that position since. More information about Mille Lacs Lake can be found on the DNR website at mndnr.gov/millelacslake. Discuss below - to view set the hook here.

The opener was a zoo as usual.  There is 15" of ice in some spots, less as you get closer to the center.  It looked like there was quite a few folks out over the weekend when I drove past the south end. I fished mid afternoon on the opener and had one miss in 5-8' of water.  I had planned to go out last weekend as well but went west to fish with my son in law over by Melrose.  The reports I heard about opener was that it was slow all around but some fish were caught.

If you're targeting pike you can do 2-3 holes overlapped with your 6".  You wouldn't have an issue with any beast then.

Was up on Big Bow last week. Pulled three trucks out that were stuck. Not easy getting around off the roads. We went out of Geigers and he has a nice road where you can get off and fish. Fishing was not good though we didn't try going cross country to our normal spots. Good luck!!
