Actually I've heard from some guys that have been doing pretty decent corkin. Although I'd rather troll too.

started on the NW corner and did a milk run south from there. This time of year you usually have to do more moving around to stay on some active fish.

Quick note on the bite: I made it out last night for a short trip and found good success immediately. I started in Garrison bay and never left the area. Found a nice 300 yd stretch of a weed bed that we got hits on every pass. Put together a pretty nice trip.

Thanks, I was supposed to go thurs afternoon get situated and be dialed in for the eve bite,but my buddy can,t even get to my house till aleast 4pm so I don't think we'd even see the water till dark so we decided to hit it way early friday and fish until we go blind I'm pretty sure I'll come back up sat afternoon and continue my plan I had for thursday even if I'm by myself, it may be a kodak moment at the landing though . If you see a blue CL superhawk in the area motor up and say hi.

Made it out last night with my dad from 7-1am working the west side. The weeds are still up out till 12-13fow, making it hard to keep them off the cranks. Moved out for awhile to Garrison reef and marked nothing. Then the south wind came a knocken, 2-3 footers on the west side who would of thought. The water temp is still warm at 66.5 at midnight with the air temp at 52. Warmer on the water then off. Seen lots of boats still fishing the mud last night. I think it is to warm yet for that Fall bite to get started but someone will prove me wrong.

My dad and I fished from 8pm-1am last night on the west side. Fishing was slow but steady. Ended up getting our limits of 15-18" eyes for the pan. Threw back a handful of small ones and one 22.5". All caught on long baits(rapalas, rattlin rogues, yozuris, thundersticks and salmo minnows). Never got a hit on a shad rap. We either found fish right on top of the rocks in 3-5 fow or off the edge in 8-12 fow. When we left at 1am the fish were going better with several hits a pass. Best color seem to be anything with some flash. At the end we both were using chrome versions of lures.

Hey Borch when you troll on top of the rocks in that shallow water do you use the big motor and long line the cranks? I've heard some people use their trolling motor, anyone here do that? Is there a speed that generally works best? I mean are you cruising pretty good or more or less working slow? Im thinking of coming up Oct. 8 too give the night trolling thing a try. I know the trolling is generally a big fish tactic, i was wondering if around sunset there is a shallow slip bobber bite for some eater fish? If there is, is it a leech thing in October yet or a minnow thing? Or can you get enough eaters while trolling for a meal? And my final question is if a guy wanted too target muskies can you find them before sunset or is that also better after dark?? Thanks for any responses.

Lots of boats up there last night, and the whole fleet was on the move, trolling those cranks.

The pond was really bumpy yesterday, no place for someone that gets sick on the water, thats for sure!

We made a 13 mile run to a spot we wanted to fish and we definately got wet from the spray.

We fished Muskies for the most part, had one good fish on, but somehow it got loose? I'm just assuming it was a Muskie, because we never seen it, but it was big.

We tried trolling and drifting out of the wind, kind of limits where you can fish! We tried bobbers and a variety of live bait, in a number of leeward spots where the anchor would hold.

It calmed down toward evening and we started trolling cranks along the west shore up by WigWam. We did'nt do so hot, missed afew and had one hog fish on after dark, maybe a big slimer, or a Muskie?

We overheard a couple of the fellas in another boat talking and they had gotten a couple, but you definately had to work for them. We were not really set up for night fishing and my friends motor does'nt really troll down far enough, so we pulled the plug about an hour after dark.

Well, Friday night was a Total opposite from my Wednesday trip. We fished the East side, started at 7 had our 2 man limit of nice fish (16-19") by 9. So we went looking for some bigger fish. Ended up the night with 30-40 fish lots in the slot and some nice picture takers 22-25" none over 25." Did have one that would have been 28 or bigger but got off at the boat so it did not count. And a couple nice 19" bass.

What a zoo trying to fish the rocks with 50 other boats doing the same. We only saw one other boat catching as many as us and some camera flashes from that boat to.

We long line cranks while running the big motor. As far as corking for eaters there's no need. You'll get all you need pulling the cranks. As far as sppeds go anywhere from 1.5 - 3.0 mph. We usually do better going slower but sometimes you need to speed it up a bit.

You're probably right about location. We fished the SW side and jumps from spot to spot until we found a few. There were no shortage of boats out there. In fact one piece we found fish on top of had 10 boats corking on the top. We only had about 150 yard run and still managed to catch several there. Never saw a corker catch a thing other than 2 rockbass.

I stopped at the pond on Wed. (9-14). Got on the water at 8:00 pm on the SE corner. First spot 1 little dink. Moved at 8:30. Second spot 9 walleyes, 1-25.5 and 8 slots by 10:15. I hadn't caught a slot fish yet this year in six or seven outings so this was a great night for me. Had to continue on to Perham so left the lake at 11:00pm. It was really easy fishing (pulling cranks) due to lack of wind so it was also really comfortable too.

We were up on Firday night. Beautiful out on the lake. Started at Flamingo and got a couple. Moved to the shoreline out in front of where Lakeside Resort used to be and got two HUGE rockbass. Then we moved out to Lakeside Reef and got 5 or six more with one being a fat old 28"er. The rest were slots. Deep running shad rap in the black/silver pattern seemed to be the most effective.

went out fri corked it from 7:15 to 11:00 ended up with 20 or so walleye 21.5 biggest and 3 jumbo perch and a rock bass. fishing the east side shallows the water surface temp was at 67.5 few more degrees and watch out!!

Wow nice fish Tom can't wait to see a picture. If your sorta new to the scene you may not know just how rare that is but believe me that is a very special fish on Mille lacs. Odds are that will be longest night-eye of any fmer this season. If you put it back you have my respect and are welcome to fish with me anytime, if not thats ok too, after all very rare indeed. Just curious how did it weigh?

I don't know how much, the digital scale went disco on me,tried new batts no help, to much andrealine in me to make a guess (probably coulda lifted the boat with 1 hand ) my buddy got some digital pic's and a 35mm when I got home. We decided it might be best if it came home due to one of the gills got damaged and was bleeding fairly good, otherwise it would have went back. I'd have felt awful putting her back not knowing if she would make it.

I went fishing last Friday. The first walleye I caught was in 28 feet of water at 2:30 pm. The walleye was 23 inches long and I caught her on a firetiger rap. The second walleye I caught in 13 feet of water at 1:17 am. The walleye was 25 inches long and I caught her on a leech.

cant wait to see the photo. it would of been my biggest too. theyre in there. there is a reason they get to be that big (isnt that the big debate...haha). im just a novice, but i like to think i fish hard when i get to go. this year and last i havent gone hardly at all. it will be 2 years this winters first ice since i caught a 27" out of a new portable fish house on sugar lake. that was my last biggest and was a special fish i kept for christmas dinner.

Went to the pond on Sat. night, on water at 8pm Caught two eyes at 18" and then the phone call, Kid rearends a Tahoe with his car, totaled both out, luckily nobody hurt seriously even though he wasn't wearing his seat belt. Ended up with 13 stitches in his face from hitting the windshield.Hopefully back to the pond this weekend, actually maybe Thursday night. Water temp on west side was about 64 degrees. Caught our fish on shad raps.

Hit the lake on Friday and managed to hook about 18-20 fish. Lot of smaller fish but did release a foot ball size 26". Trolling in 6-8 feet. Can't beleive all the boats. I found a spot that only had a couple people swing by and check it out.
