Anyone having any luck on Cedar?

4 posts in this topic

Time for that weekly C/R outing and wondering if anyone has any thoughts or recent experiences.

I'd be happy to post my Thursday results if others are willing to post their experiences over the last week or so. crazy.gif

blb,

I was just out there for a jr, tourney last weekend. The winning wieght was around 8 1/2lbs.

Honestly, that lake kicked my butt that day, only coming up with two bass. A few people had their limits.

Most bass I heard were caught early, the rest of the day proved to be tough with the hot weather we had that week. I belive some were caught on spinnerbaits in the morning and some people picked up some on docks and weed lines the rest of the day. Me and the person I was with got ours on a jig worm deep, and only 2 early in the reeds.

If I could fish the tourney over I would have been throwing spinnerbaits and a jigworm shallow early and working to get my limit. I would have fished the deep weedlines v-e-r-y slowly the rest of the day, because the docks weren't producing for me.

good luck!

BLB,

How did it go on Thursday?

Today was a hellride at work. Cripes!

Well good and bad I guess.

We managed our 6 bass bag in less than 45 minutes.

Averaged about 15 inches. Nice solid fish, and aggresive on the bite.

Got them working plastics on the deep weedline(which seems to be around 12 ft). All caught within literally 20 ft of each other.

Then all we could muster was our one scoreable crappie the rest of the night.

We did not see a single pike, and all the sunnies were dinks.

Amazing how fast it started, and how we managed to struggle so bad for the next 2 hours 15 minutes.

We only had 7 pike brought in from 10 boats, and only one other boat got a 6 fish league limit.

It was pretty slow for most.

But hey, we took another weekly win!!!

Nice fish and plenty of them is what has been happening this week. Almost as many slots as keepers.  We have been jigging but pulling spinners or cranks works great too. One of the attached pics is what is showing up in the deep mud, mostly Saugers now but more Walleyes and tons more fish piling in the next few weeks. Joe Paradis from Plummer Mn out with me this morning behind the fish board and, from Thursday fishing buddy Mike Lindholm with the biggest, fattest, best looking 25 incher I have seen in a while. Having plenty of fun fishing in the wind

Well, we went back up there to make up for last month. There was no making up anything! Bugs were horrendous, and the fishing was slow to nonexistent. The biggest point of going back up was to fish West Bearskin and Two Island lakes, and we didn't make it to either this time around either.    We still had lots of fun. Did a lot of hiking and sightseeing, particularly on the way up and he way home. Seen a lot of things I've never seen before. Was nice to sit out by the harbor and eat Sven & Ole's. Definitely a lot more people up there in July, as opposed to June. Well, we'll be back in October.

BTW the "no fish on my spots" was just a riff on Tom''s "no fish under my dock".  Sorry for any confusion.  I'm not much of a musky fisherman, so wouldn't know if there are or not, really.

It spit her out after the first bite..

Have heard of people getting bit before but that was a really nasty looking wound!! And some claim that Muskies do not like to eat walleyes! People must taste better! Cliff

My last trip to Mille Lacs I lost a big eye right before I saw it with the jiggin rap...Then 10 minutes later I hooked a 28.5" eye and that was the most scared I've been fighting a fish lol... Every head shake I was darn near dropping my rod tip in the water lol.
