WFC Bass in the next few weeks.

3 posts in this topic

Anyone have any reports on Bass fishing in the Whitefish Chain area? I'll be in Canada op fathers day weekend and then staying at my cabin on the chain for a few weeks after that. Do you think the bass will still be in the shallows at that time, or heading to deeper water? Last I heard the water was still pretty cold. I love top water fishing, so I was hoping the bass would hang around the shallows for a while. Anyone?

During that timeframe I would fish the weed flats, the inside and outside weedlines. You should be able to get some on topwaters early in the mornings over the shallow weed flats. Whitefish is a tremendous bassin lake.

Do you have any areas you like for bass? I'm on Daggett, so I usually fish the Daggett, Little Pine and Cross lakes.

Day two was a bit different than day one for us.  Much slower mid day resulting 50 fish for the day.  A couple of 23" being the biggest.    ESE wind caused a different approach Today that challenged me a bit.  As well as the river was VERY BUSY today!   Water conditions appeared to stay fantastic as far as current and clarity,  should be a nice week ahead for those coming up.

Buddy of mine just drove past the Big and Littlefork rivers on hwy11, said ice bank to bank on both. Even saw fresh tracks from snowmobiles on them. So for whatever that's worth guys and gals.

Took the boat out on Cedar Island today.  Water was 39 and crappie were deep.  Large bay at access was iced over but could hug the shore and make it around.  Otherwise it was mostly open.

Tipups we are between Springsteel and Warroad right now. Still driving trucks and wheelhouses out about 24" of ice.
