Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Beebe for opener?

Anyone fishing Beebe for opener? If so, what tactics and depths work well? Does Buffalo get crazy/crowded on opener?

Stay away from Buffalo on opener! I usually try to stay away from there for at least a few weeks within opener! I tried that last year & it was nuts! Almost as bad as ice fishing there. Beebe doesn't have too big of a parking lot, but I think that there is a guy down the road that will let you park in his lot, for a small fee that is.

Hoggs...thanks for the heads-up! I kinda figured Buffalo would be like that. Anyone fishing Beebe for opener? I am planning to head up toward the St. Cloud area early opening morning, but if the weather doesn't cooperate, I would like to hit something a little closer to home.

The bite is never good during opener, because of all the commotion (i.e; boats powering up away from landings, boats piling up on supposed "hot spots" and then speeding away, lots of inexperienced and "twice-a-year" boaters, etc.)...

I just skip opening weekend. The fish will still be there the following week...besides, there's plenty of yard work to be done until the "wanna-be's" are off the lakes...

Sounds like a little bitterness towards the opener crowd eh'?

No doubt, it can be a pain for traffic purposes.

I don't tend to skip opener, yet insist on siezing it as an opportunity to seek out low traffic lakes and find new spots.

So far, its opened my eyes to alot of little gems, that for some reason, nobody knows about.

Thank you opener madness, for I have a few more lakes in my pocket to go catch some slabs when I just want to be "alone".

Backherup Hit the nail on the head big time. Opener and for about 2 weeks you get the first time boat owners out there.

They buy a 21' boat pull it with a newe caddie suv. Just so they can drive thier new boat into yours. And never say sorry or anything. Seen this happen every year. Sometimes 4 or more times in 1 day. They don't have a Clue as to what to do.

1.They more practice it less busy ramps.

2.They could hire someone to show them what to do before, during and after luanching the boat.

3. Practice back the boat at a school parking lot.

Well geez, Duane...at least I have a boat!grin.gif

Maybe working 60-70 hours a week has a little to do with the fact I can no longer fish as much as I once did...family comes first...

I was on Beebe on Saturday morning. That only lasted about 2 hours. I got 1 small sunnie on the line & that was it. I mainly wanted to get out & get the boat running for the first time this year. Then it started snowing. I then called it a day. Water temp was only 48-49 degrees.

With 2 trout stamps you can keep double your limit. You heard it here first on the interwebs!  Me and Mr Williams will swing by and say Hi this winter in Ely.   That is, if we can get around your sled!!  Happy Thanksgiving!

There is probably not going to be much ice to speak of  if the forecast holds true. They are talking 50s on Friday, Sunday and Monday. Any ice we did have will most likely be gone, unfortunately.

Haven't been out looking but things have been froze up for awhile. Heard there was some out on Bowstring last week.

It's that time of year. Cone on up and see if you can claim the Nord Lord. Spearing in the Third River Flowage in Winnie. Pizza party Friday night in the lodge potluck in the ice Saturday at noon.   Any questions hollar.

Saw something interesting on forest lake this morning...lake was completely locked up, yet someone had launched their boat and was trudging through the ice! That’s dedication! Anyone have any ice updates to report?

2 Trout stamps.  Did I miss something and need to go back and get another?

The 200 foot rule gets me a little but it has to be defined somehow what is occupied and what isn’t.   So for a wheelhouse we get to buy tabs to have on the road and a sticker to have it on the ice and go away for a little while.  Seems pretty close to double taxation since any LE can find out who the owner is from the current plate. Plus the spear shack that I might want to keep up over the weekend.  2 tags plus license. Combination sports license 2 trout stamps Waterfowl stamps Pheasant stamp  Turkey license (stamp now included) Deer license for all seasons   The bucket is getting heavy with all the drops in it.
