Vermilion Bass Tourney Question

I saw a fishing show today while I was packing to head up to Baudette today. It was a show about the Gander Mtn Pro/Am that was held on Vermilion last year out of Timbuktu. When was this? I usually like to avoid these big outings when I come up if I can. I know Guideman will have the answer to this one.

Hey Lawman,

That tournament was last September over the labor day weekend I believe. It's only a 50 boat event for the tour championship and this was the second year that they had it here. I had the pleasure of pre-fishing with a few of them and they were all very impressed by Lake Vermilion.

I was impressed by the number of larger fish caught by these Pros in deep water over rocks. I thought it might have been in Sept. because of the algae. You took me fishing a couple years ago for Musky. I am from Rochester and was staying at Vermilion Dam. The water was pretty green when we were out.

The tournament was the first weekend in September. It was in 2003 however, not in '04.

The big smallmouth were taken dropshotting humps in about 25 feet of water on the East end. The Largemouth were all shallow on a jig on the West End.

This was a great tournament. The Gander Mountain circuit will be back in 2005 at the end of June.
