Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Question for the experts

It is supposed to get very cold tomorrow and stay that way through the weekend. Does that always kill the fishing when a cold front moves in like that. My first trip this year it was 30 on friday night when I arrived and by Sat night it was close to -30 and the fishing was as bad as I have ever seen on early ice. It had just moved in that day though. This cold weather will start tomorrow and I won't be going up until Friday night. I realize nobody knows for sure but I want some opinions of the guys in the know. I guess it doesn't really matter to me either way I am still going up and I will still be drinking and gambling heavily. And know that I am thinking about it sometimes its nicer when the fish don't pester you while drinking and playing cards. They just seem to get in the way sometimes. Anyhow, thanks in advance for any opinions

im by no means an expert on lake of the woods, but I would say "yes" a cold front moving in can spell tough fishing...i know this because I have experienced it myself. However, maybe someone out there knows how to lure them in better than I.

12lb: First of all I must clarify that I am not an expert, however I'm going to just throw out my observations based on 40 years of chasing fish and game. I have had some tremendous fishing right before a front slides in and have found that for a day or two after this front the action slows quite a lot. The change in barometric pressure has a significant impact on fish and wildlife. Personally I don't believe that temps in and of themselves impact the fishing as much as a roller coaster ride with temps and fronts changing continually. I'm headed up on Monday 1/17 and by that time this weather system will have been in place for two to four days. I really don't feel its going to have that great of an impact by Monday. Again none of what I've said is based on scientific info only personal observations. Hope you have a good trip. Good luck and hang on. Bill

I used to have many fields but some guides came in and pay for the fields. I am down to 3 farms but they don't have any small grains this year. So I am going to take the early season off. As I know the geese will use some ponds to rest and I have access to them so I will wait until the regular season to pick off a few geese.

That's what I planned on doing while I bow hunted but wasn't sure since I got one in spring if I could get another. Thanks

I was marking various things, but I didn't note a correlation between marking something and catching the walleye.  Also was catching smallies on the same reefs, although maybe at a little different depth.   In fact I was surprised when the walleye hit.  Likewise the other one the next evening.

Eden prairie purgatory lake is full of carp. You can see them from the dock or the bridge.

Orvis has some awesome tutorials on their web sites. They teach at whatever level you are in flyfishing. I've gone there many times. They've also got an awesome app with fishing reports including wwater conditions, fly selection and hw to fish it.       Check them out and good fishing.

I didn't fish any walleye this weekend- only bass. I would fish Friday and Saturday mornings from 530-830 and caught half a dozen largies in the 3-4lb range on a spinner bait. I just got my Garmin fish finder with sideview which will hopefully help me better locate the walleyes. Del, were you marking fish as you'd go over them?

Latest Landing gossip...... First hearing in trial was july 25th.   Judge took motions under advisement. In the mean time, since none of the locals would work there, they imported a bunch of people on H2b visas as seasonal workers and put them up in a little house in Cook.  Charging them $285 per month.  Like 20 people in the house.   Now many have quit and found other jobs, and some also found other places to live.   They have to hang on since they need to wait until their scheduled airplane tickets.. which they also had to pay for.   That's the news from the Laundromat.... Believe it or so what.

Neighbor guy got a couple slot fish on west wakemup with leadcore.   I got a couple, one 19.95 and other 22, rigging crawler also on west wakemup although a different area.  Mine were in like 18 feet.
