NFL playoffs radio broadcast ?

Recommended Posts

I debating about coming up this weekend and I'd like to listen to the playoff games tomorrow. Can anyone tell me what the local stations would be up there for either AM or FM broadcast of the NFL games this weekend? I have had some luck with KFGO (Fargo) up there, but I think it's hit and miss??? Thanks in advance.

I was up on LOW a few weeks ago and I managed to get in the Vikings game on an AM station. Sorry I cannot remember which station it was, but it was on the dial somewhere.

I find a station but it had a lot of static, need a better radio than I had, Is there radios others use where the station is clear? If so what kind.

I was fishing out of Morris Point and could pick up

KTRF 1230 AM out of Thief River Falls on a walkman. There was alot of static, but could here what was on the air easy enough. A good radio, would probably pick it up o.k.

I think you can pick up the Vikings on LOOSERS FM out of Minneapolis. Clear as a bell. If it's possible to loose they'll find a way!

Quick, go get SIRIUS Satellite Radio. Every NFL game, clear as a bell. Ive got in the truck and listen to it all the way to youngs bay when i head out to the island. Also have the portable unit that can be used anywhere. Always in the fishhouse. I love it. Im going to be up for the championship weekend and plan on bringing it.

I AGREE, GO WITH THE SIRIUS RADIO. WE BEEN COMING UP FOR 12 YEARS,WE'VE FOOLED WITH RADIOS AND CASSETTES WITH LITTLE LUCK.THE SIRIUS RADIO IS A LITTLE SPENDY IN THE BEGINNING BUT WELL WORTH IT. WE LISTEN TO IT ALL THE WAY UP FROM RED WING AND OUT ON THE ICE FOR 4 DAYS. YOU CAN LISTEN TO ANY GAME OR ANY KIND OF MUSIC. THE ONLY THING I CAN WARN YOU ABOUT IS IF YOUR GOING TO RUN IT OFF THE D BATTERIES IS THAT THE BEST SET OF 8 BATTERIES WILL LAST BETWEEN 6 AND 7 HOURS. IF YOU CAN RUN IT OFF YOUR CAR ALL THE BETTER. HOPE THIS HELPS.

I have the Xact portable and have had problems with run time with batteries. I am glad to hear its not the unit. I am surprised by the power that little sucker must consume. I hate to make it sound like a plug for Sirius, but if you can listen to one station of format from red wing,or anywhere usa, all the across the big lake, It is worth considering. Especially if your a football fan. They broadcast every game and you can listen to your teams broadcast. Unit with one year subscription, came with car kit too will cost about $400.

That's probably a good idea with the sattelite radio. I couldn't pick up much. I couldn't find the football games on the radio inside the house (Between the steel siding and the Vex), but I could get 790AM in the pickup so I drove back last night. Fishing was pretty slow so I flipped a coin to stay another night or watch the purple. Tails it was, so here's cheering for the Vikes.

I've gotten the Vikes games just south of Williams on FM 102.1 (pretty sure that is it). I don't know if it comes in on the lake though. I would assume it would. I will be listening either on the radio or watching in the bar at Zipple Bay or the Night Hawk.

I used a Sirius (for the first time) the whole time fishing last weekend and loved it! The display definitely eats batteries however. fishawk2, how do you run it off a 12-volt? I assume you must need a power converter, cuz' my radio only has 110 volt plug or batteries option.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!

Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
