Is it pointless to try and go there at 12:30pm on Sunday the 16th? Could you even get a spot worth fishing that late in the day?

Yes you can get a spot on Sunday but Saturday is the time to hit it. It is kind of fun seeing all the portables on such a small lake. Make sure you have a stamp.

The bite is very good in the morning and then dies off in the afternoon. You can't use live bait, you have to kill your minnows before getting on the pond.

Opening day is the day to be there.

Heads-up! I would bet ya'll will see the CO out there too. Like ole said, no live bait (must be dead before heading onto the lake) and you will need a trout stamp and there is a $5/day $25/year parking permit fee.

Good luck,

It's all sight fishing, the water is very clear. You have to always be looking down your hole because they will inhale the bait and not swim away. I use crappie minnows or shrimp on a small crappie jig, but remember, you have to kill the bait before going on the lake.

I would strongly recomend getting there before the park opens, fishing is best right away. Only have your bait 4 or 5ft below the ice, they seem to swin around that area a lot.

Good luck.

Sorry I am so late in responce, but I really appreciate the help!! I've never watched down my hole to catch fish so it should be a lot of fun, hopefully I'll get one to come into view! Should I try to get to a deeper hole, or along the shore in about 10ft?? Thanx again! Good Fishin! You are allowed to keep a trout if ya catch it right? Never eaten trout that I've caught before... Thought it'd be neat to do...
