The other night, I think monday, the ice near the marina was about 7" or so. I've heard there is alot more now. I didnt do too well though.. Caught a small northern and small crappie. First time fishing the lake though.

Kylersk,

I was out there Monday night also, We had 20 crappies in 2 hours, I was one of the blue fishtraps out in Waconia Bay.

The permanent is going out sometime this weekend. I will shoot you an E-mail sometime next week.

Danny, what time were you out there? I was there from about 5 till 8pm in the green otter. Just south of the Perm house that was near the marina. I think I was too far east, since most of the other houses were to my west. What were you catching the crappies on?

Are you guys seeing ATVs out there? I've never fished Waconia. I'm going with a friend who says that it's a 1/2-mile walk to his spot. I'd rather take the wheeler.

KYLERSK,

5 to 7:15, minnows and glow jigs. We were out by the other permanents. We found a pocket in the weeds, in 11 feet of water.

There has been a lot of 4 wheeler traffic on the south side of the island, I don't know about the rest of the lake. I heard somebody was out there in a truck yesterday, but I didn't see them

BigDaddy, I should be on the ice sunday as well. If you see a green otter, with lime green Arctic Cat stop and say HI.

I have also heard the rumors that the DNR removed adult fish to plant into other lake years ago. I heard that a few locals had gone as far as to threaten to dynamite the Pike River Dam if that practice did not stop!  I have never heard any proof either way on that report. I assume that fry are planted into lakes that they cannot reproduce in to give fishermen in the area of those lakes the chance to fish for walleyes. Most lakes that the walleyes can reproduce in naturally usually do not require yearly planting to maintain a fishable walleye population. The DNR quit milking walleyes early because they had no demand for fry elsewhere in the state. They very seldom try to fill all of the egg batteries in the hatchery anyway. Cliff
