How do you do prepare cut bait?

3 posts in this topic

This is just a curiosity question. I've seen on a couple different ways of preparing cut bait. I'm just curious how many prefered ways their are and what you use.

i just lay a sucker minnow on its side and cut in 3-4 pieces, head, a couple middes pieces and tail section, hook them with a lot of hook exposed. I always use fresh bait when cattin.

Hope this helps,

Well depending on the size of the bait, but with a six inch sucker I like to fillet one side and then cut that fillet in two pieces if the fish aren't taking to the whole fillet. With the non-filleted remaining sucker I just cut that up into three chunks, or so and throw that on. I almost always cut the tail off, I have been told it causes the bait to roll in the current.
