Fish patterns in high water?

3 posts in this topic

I got skunked today at the river, at a spot I'd never been skunked before, and it looked like I wasn't the only one. The river was up about 15" from the last time I was there, a week ago. The same basic back-current existed, but today it wasn't holding any fish that I could catch.

When the water is high, where do the fish go? What do they do?

I didn't get skunked, but if yearling channels didn't count I would be. I'm thinking they went upstream. Where ever that might be; tributaries, creeks, or where ever.

I went out on Sat. and got skunked as well. I usually catch something. I thought I would try going on the rum south of the dam. The current was tremendous. I have yet to try north of the 169 bridge. I might try a few slower sections. Has anyone been in that area lately?
