smallies

2 posts in this topic

I'm new to the St Cloud area, unfortunately without access to a boat. What would be some techniques to use and prime structure to fish for all species, expecially smallies? Also some suggested general areas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Lot's of places to fish from shore on the St Cloud stretch of the Mississippi river. I would start at the 10th street dam on either side of the river and walk downstream casting plastic tipped jigs, spinners or plugs. Cast to eddies, logs and rocks. Along with shallow gravel bars. Smallmouth will also go after most smaller surface lures like poppers. Also, this would be true for the Sartell dam.

This fall will be a hot time on the river for walleyes and smallmouth!! I can expect to catch 20 walleyes and a dozen smallies in two or three hours of fishing. Good luck.
