Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

I talked to a guy today that said last weekend they saw a guy in a boat on Big Cormorant fishing and a guy ice fishing on Middle Cormorant. There is only a road that divides these two lakes. But, the 2 ice houses that were on Middle Cormorant last weekend have been removed.

Well, i got my boat put away, but if it starts gettin' warm, I will just have to get it unput away haha
My plan is if we have a warm dry winter, fish open water, if cold and snowy, mostly ice fish.

It's not over for me. I can't wait for ice fishing, but I also fish open water year round. I fish smallies on the river right up until the end of the season in February. And Pool 2 & 4 are both great for winter walleye fishing. A couple of years ago we took the boat up to the Horseshoe Chain in December. After breaking through some shoreline ice we ended up catching some nice channel cats. In March & April I focus on suckers, redhorse, carp etc. & Pool 2 walleyes. Last spring I fished the Hidden Falls area in a boat and had waterskiers zip past me while guys were still ice fishing in the marina area. Only in Minnesota! Vern

Yeah.. my uncle does the winter thing by the dam in Redwing up through december; Q though: isn't all that cold weather hard on the lower unit-- which is bad when your intake valve freezes shut? How do you avoid that? I'm allways told to drain the lower unit before putting it in outside storage; so I'm supposing a heated garage is pretty much a requirement if you plan to boat all year.

If any one is interested in one last open water trip.... My fishing partner for tomorrow just backed out! I'll be fishing the missippi pool4 in the morning. My boat is put away, so I'm going with a guide. $80 for 2 people. Post email or phone # here if interested. FT2

Looks like you had a better bite than I did. I really didn’t expect all my gear to be that bad hand pulling out.  Big time failure on my part to not bring my wheeler.  I have too much of a spearing Jones to have left it all back at the truck. I brought a few gills, a seed, a crappie and a 25 inch walleye home.  Biggest gill went 8.  I went through a half dozen heavy pike suckers on the tip up but never dropped the spear.  Only saw one 20 incher that never really got in the hole.  The walleye inhaled the sucker and got the hooks in the throat. Glad you guys got some nice ones!

I found a new unopened Minnesota V6.0 on Craigslist for 75$ and it was only 2 miles from my house saved me a trip to Cabela's.
