Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

waterproof hunting garments

What is the best, bone-dry, hunting garments? I've used Hodgeman's and Browning GoreTex garments and have been totally soaked. The only GoreTex that works are my Rocky Mountain boots.

I have Columbia when the still used Gore-tex and with their Omni-tech and have had no problems. Also good luck with Cabela's Gore-Tex.

If your Gore-tex gear leaked I would return to the manufacturer for warranty. I did have one Gore-tex coat that failed after 12 years, but Columbia replaced it at no charge.

I have had good luck with Dry Plus. Got a pair of Gander Mountain Dry Plus pants when they went out of the catalog order business, and they are still keeping me dry. I have been through several pairs of Goretex along the way, and have generally not been all that impressed with it. For the amount of leakage and problems I and my friends have experienced with Goretex, in my opinion it is overpriced and highly overrated. At least Cabelas keeps replacing the stuff without squawking!

I have to say the columbia omni tech is the best. I have a jacket & pants for fishing, and have been covered by waves for a few hours nonstop on Winnie, and remained totally dry. I just bought the new Quickloader Quad parka and bibs for waterfowl. I haven't got to try them yet, but if they are anything like my rain gear, I'll be warm and dry and sleeping in my blind.
Thing about buying stuff from Cabela's, is they never give you a hassle on returns. I had a pair of hunting boots that were 2 years old and pretty beat up from pheasant hunting. They started to tear by the laces, and cabelas said they should last longer than that, and gave me my money back. Always pays to ask.

Takin it easy! & if it’s easy, I’ll take it twice!

Thanks to all those who came out yesterday and it was great to see you all. I had fun catching fish and chatting. I will put another one together later in the year.

Had another good weekend of fishing.  Fished Thursday evening to Saturday afternoon and found consistent action all hours of the day.  Caught 5 slotters 22-25", and was able to be picky on eaters, only keeping 15-17" walleyes.  Plenty of small eyes also, plus I caught 4 eelpout. I did learn a lesson on how to take eelpout off of the hook.  I tried to lift a 20" pout out of the hole by line and the hook pulled out and embedded the bobber in my styrofoam ceiling.  The next time I used the fish pliers to lift the slimy fish out. Had 10" of ice where I was, and a lot of large wheelhouses were being pulled out there.  Yesterday someone drove a Jeep out to a wheelhouse close by.  I think we will see a lot more vehicles driving out in the next week.  Fortunately the added weight hasn't pushed much water on top of the ice.

I think the fourm would still be pretty strong....however when they split the fourm sites up & stuff and changed some things a few years ago it pretty much killed this site. Traffic is a crawl.....they blame it on new media like Facebook and other stuff......which is an excuse.....poor one at that.......the other ice fishing website I go to is stronger then ever.......This use to be my favorite site, today it's in sad shape & I only come because I remember what it once was hoping that it gets back to it someday.
