Help me plan a trip

2 posts in this topic

I've got a buddy coming in from Chicago, and I want to take him for a quick fishing/camping trip. The goal is to put in one afternoon, drift/paddle and fish, camp, and then meet our wifes and friends the next morning at Taylors Falls for a booze-cruise-swim excursion. The second half of this trip (Booze cruise) we have done before. We know where to rent the boats and such. My question is, in the interest of timing, where do you think I should either put-in or rent a boat ( I own a big heavy flat bottom tank of a canoe), camp and such to make the first leg of the trip fun and productive. Or is that leg of the river just north of the falls not worth the effort? Never having seen the falls, is it a portage? Is it rough?

Thanks in advance........
