Smallies on the St. Croix?

Recommended Posts

Any general ideas for locations on the Croix for smallies? Not asking for a honey hole, but maybe a particular stretch? Thanks in advance, drowningworms.

It would depend on where you put in. In the early mornings, they typically (who knows tomorrow) have been hanging shallow and in areas where there is visible rocks on shore. Try a Rapala Skitter Pop topwater lure in 1-6' of water from sunup to around 8:30 AM.
Most of the time the earlybird gets the worm, but sometimes the second mouse gets the cheese!! Good luck!

hunt4food is right check these shallow areas in mornings and on windy wavy days.Alot of fish are also suspending out in the river with white bass.Afternoons with brite sun check out deeper water that cuts into the rocky shorelines. With jigs and cranks.

Good luck!
