I need to know if you live in Wisconsin and launch your boat in Minnesota and catch fish and take them out of on the Minnesota side is it illegal, or do you have to have a license for both states

EKSMITH,
On the croix you only need a MN or WI license to fish on the river. You could even fish of the minn shore with a Wi license.Or vice versa. It states in the regs "Anglers may launch and fish from either shore and may transport their catch by the most direct route to the state in which they are licensed."But it also states "when regulations differ between bordering states, anglers must comply with the regulations of the state for which they are licensed and can only exercise more liberal fishing privileges in the wayer of the state where they are licensed.

Hope this is all you need.
