6/11/01 Walleye are going strong in 18-25 feet on spinners, phelps floaters, crankbaits, and 3/8ouncejigs. Rock bottoms have been important during this part of summer and eyes relate to the specific river life that uses the rocks. Smallmouth have been biting well but bigger fish seem more elusive. Large sheepers have been on the prowl and indicate a good fishing year, years when the big sheeps are hard to find usually means tough big eye bite as well. Always remember on the Croix weekend days and sunshine will be busy with patrons wishing to enjoy the day on the same waters, if this throws off your game come back on a rainy day.
