Good morning,

A group of us is heading up to Kab this weekend. It will be the first time that any of us have ever fished the lake. We are staying on the west end but have a boat that can make long runs to the east end if need be. Based on the information that has come in so far, it looks like the water temps are keeping the fish out deeper. What are some decent deeper water areas to target on the west end? If we did go shallow, would slip bobbers be a good option? Or are jig/minnow or live bait rigs the best tactics? Thanks in advance for any info. I will make sure to post a detailed report of our results when I return next week.

The West end is normally the better fishery early in the spring. The water seems to be warming up nicely right now, with 60-70 degree weather expected this week. As the water warms up we all expect the large majority of eyes to move in shallow. There are a few nice deep holes on the mid West end that may hold mid-depth eyes. The No. point of Bittersweet, the East side of the far East island of the three sister group.

Pass thru bittersweet and on the left by Slatinski Bay there is a reef that drops into the mid 50's.

Check the forum before you leave or stop at Gateway Store, they usually have the latest scoop.
Good luck, guts

We also have a group going up this weekend. I haven't fished this lake for about 10 years and am looking forward to hitting it again. I have a 16-5 Lund Predator (blue) with Wave-Wackers sporting a 50 Yamaha tiller. If you see us fishing stop by and introduce yourself and we can swap a few lies.

Did you mean bittersweet? It sounds more like pincherry or donut island in the location you were describing near slatinky's bay.

Fishin Engr,

I will definitely keep an eye out for you. We will be in a Lund 1850 Tiller with a 90 Honda on the back. It will be a full boat as five of us will be fishing out of it.

Any new reports from this week? The weather looked a little warmer. Have the water temps warmed at all?
