I'm heading up to Kab this weekend and wondering if I need the extension for my auger.

Kingr, I was up there two weeks ago and I wouldn't recommend going without one!! They dont have any in the area from what I understand. We had a homemade ext. on ours 16" and got close in a few spots. It's been cold up there the last few weeks as well. I don't think that it would not recommend the trip with out it. Good luck and Good fishing.

I spoke with a bunch of folks last night that have been fishing recently, the general opinion of ice thickness is 40-42" for the most part.

There are no extensions available in this area, everyone is sold out. We have good ice and very good snowmobile trails at this time.

Remember that the only season open on Kab now is crappies, and perch. Namakan still is open for eyes, pike and etc. Namakan is a canadian border lake, and Kab is not.

Good luck when you get here, look for a mild week end and then we head into the sub-zeroz again. guts <{{{{{{{{><
