Purchase a Fisher map and fish emerged and submerged rock piles. Be observement of where other boats are fishing and refer to your Fisher map to see what structure and depth the boat is working.

When you arrive at the lake, ask around to see what baits and rigs are producing. Pulling Lindy rigs and jigging are the optimal way to boat walleyes.

Warrior,

SPend at least one early morning in the Ash river, pulling crankbaits.

I found a really good spot that doesn't show on the hotspots map.

After getting all of the way through the narrows, take an immediate left. About a quarter of a mile the very first main point on your left(an obvious point) has a 20-22 ft hole right in front of it. Most of the river runs at 8-15 feet.

Troll the edges of this hole(10-15ft) from early sun up. Use your favorite crank bait. I had success with Walli Divers and #8/#9 shad raps.

Your bait needs to be making contact occasionally with the bottom!

I guarantee non stop action until the sun makes an appearance, then it will simply shut off! There will be some "jacks" mixed in with the walleyes as well!

The only downfall of this location is all of the "cruiser" from the Ash River resorts, heading out to Kab and Namakan!

I thought it was kind of funny, watching all of these boats speeding by us to get out on the lake, while we were reeling them in!

Good luck and let me know if you get a big one on that spot!

Jim W

A plus is that the forecast is for a much nicer day Saturday.

Thanks for your work guys! You were showin' some serious team spirit being out there today. I would have helped but I had a few appointments today I couldn't reschedule. I know I'm available Friday to do any last day scouting/fine tuning....

Definitely a grind out prefishing cats today for the gathering.  Weather made it to tough but I Jeff  and his brother pushed through the elements to try and find a few active schools .   Locating the schools were tough took a pile of holes and the augers got a workout for sure,  but fortunately  we did find a couple active schools. Jeff and his brother found a few on one lake and I found a decent school on another lake. The good news was that both schools were cruising shallow flats in both locations and about the same depths. Great news as this is a good indication they are feeding on these flats.   Amazeingly both schools were found on a inside corner. Bingo looks like we have a pattern formed. We iced and marked  a fair number of cats in both locations so things are looking good for Saturday. Plus is we added a few for the fish fry already  Jeff I'll keep plugging away out there hopefully I can dial them in even more I have a hunch there are a few more close by where we ended.

Couple from prospecting some virgin ice, not a hole in site. Mission accomplished!         .....

Just got off the ice and there were several cars driving around.  We ended up with 1-2 inches. We found a few willing cats today.   Enough to get a head start for the fish fry.  Keep posted as we did not find much for cats in the methhole area.
