Information about a resort

Fishin' Man

I was wondering if someone could tell me some information about a resort. The resort is a Deer Horn Resort near a town of Ray, Minnesota. If anyone could tell me some stuff about the resort and stuff like that I would be very happy. Thanks for any information.

Have you made reservations, or just looking for a place up on Kab? I used to work next door to Deer Horn Resort for 4 years and it looked like an alright place to stay. I think Eileen still runs the place.

They have 6-7 cabins, boats & motors for rent, bait and their dock was alright. There is good fishing right out in front of their dock if you're looking for walleyes, especially with a north wind.

Thanks for the information. I have no idea what we plan on doing yet. But any more information would be nice.

fish-n-man,

I spent a week on Kabetogama last Sept. We stayed at Pine AIre resort. It was clean etc, but wasn't really what I like in a resort. It had it's own harbor(nice) etc, but If I had an option I would get a cabin or resort much closer to the Ash river and Namakan! More options for fishing.
What time of year are you planning on going there?

We,ve stayed at Deer Horn Resort for several years. Eileen still runs everything. We have never been disappointed at Deer Horn. everyone is always friendly & great on telling their fishing escapades. You can pay for guiding if you're not having any luck, but we,ve always seemed to do well fishing all the years we,ve been going there. Get your reservations in quick - they may be full for this season. We always put ours in 1 year ahead of time. Deer Horn is a great place!! Good Luck!!

Larry.

Nice Job Jeff. Love the secret potion you know how scent can play a key role in the bite.    Wow some good prizes for this years event. People come on out and join the fun. We all will do are best to help you ice a few cats, maybe even your first.

Those are some dandies . The eye bite has been a little rough lately.  What worked to put those two nice ones topside?

First off welcome to the site and thanks for posting. Not sure about a road plowed on Woman but broad water and lantern bay are good  places to find panfish on that lake. More than likely there will be a truck trail to both as they are pretty popular spots. Good luck

Fishing as Good Friday night then Saturday not so much. Pictures from Friday, none from Saturday because everyone knows what one 5” perch looks like.

Was on Green by Chisago with my daughter who is 6. Like others, we marked a lot of fish but getting them to bite wasn’t easy. Did catch a fair number of bluegills and crappies but really had to coax them into biting. The bite did pick up a little as it got closer to dark though. We stayed out until about 6:30pm. My daughter didn’t want to leave but I was out of propane for my heater so it was getting a little cold so we left. Everything was mostly small but did catch a couple of decent sized crappies. Ice is thick and you could pretty much drive anywhere with 4WD. Fun time with the kid and she’s hooked on it. Already asking to go again.

First timer checking in. My folks bought a place on Child/Boy River. Looking forward to spending more time in the area. Wondering if anyone knows if there are roads plowed on Woman Lake? Was hoping to try and catch an evening/morning bite this week. Thanks
