I have a friend that doesn't do much fishing and has a cabin on lobster. I was wondering if anyone could lend a hand with ideas of what to chase and a few general areas to target. I've looked at the map and it is a fairly complex lake. Any bays better than others, etc. Neither of us has fished the lake and we are going to give it a whirl in a week or two. We would be outfitted to catch anything from crappie to muskie (all C&R except perhaps a few crappies if we find them) reports on lake activity would also be appreciated. Hello,
Here are a few tips I have gathered for you.
For Muskies, try the sandbar at the western end of the lake. Troll along the 20' break eastward with deep running plugs into the main part of the lake. Be sure to check out the sunken island that rises up to about 9'.
This is a good area to cast bucktails or jerk baits for some giant muskies.
When you get tired of casting those big muskie baits, you can always try for bass/walleyes. A great spot to hit is the far eastern side near the center island in the middle of the bay. There is classic structure with shoreline weedbeds and sharp breaks around the 35' hole.
Walleyes are caught here too. Fish the same sharp breaks with live bait rigs and you might end with some nice marble eyes as well.
As for crappies, check out the pencil reeds around the lake, wear polarized lenses and look for fish near the weeds. These fish should spawn in the next few weeks, so put a few of the big females back.

Thank you very much for you generous tips. I love to fish and do it any time I can. My friend is trying to pick it up and with a cabin on the lake he will really benefit from your help. We would certainly NOT keep any spawning female crappies, and realistically probably wouldn't keep any at all. I just wanted to be honest about the possibility. All others will go back, including the walleye. Never have hooked into a muskie, but giving it a try would be fun. I will let you know how we do. Thanks again and may the fish swarm to your hook.

Fished lobster sat. and sun. morning. We fished a general pattern for whatever we could catch. Didn't target shallow bays for panfish like most people were. Lots of big boats fishing muskie througout the weekend and a few fishing bass. We caught a few bass, northern, and crappie on small white jigs tipped with a little leech. Had several spurts of many fish in 10-15 minutes and then nothing. Fished around the narrows along weed beds in about 6-8 ft. of water. Also threw a few spinner baits, spoons and plugs hoping for a random muskie. Picked up a few northern this way. Overall great lake, fun to fish, lots of area and diverse habitat and diverse fish populations. When tired of fishing northerns/muskie/bass, fish panfish and vise versa. Can anyone tell me where to catch more bass in Lobster Lake? I went there this weekend and caught a few but the were all around 1-2 pounds. Mainly fished the shallows for them. It would be great to get any tips on where i can find the bigger bass and what would be the best lure for them.

Fished on Lobster Lake Saturday, i was hunting musky and the girlfriend was looking for whatever bit. She caught a couple big mouths and a little walleye. I had one Musky follow on a depth raider, i'm guessing she was about 48" + she was a beauty, couldn't get her to bite though... I'll be back up over the 4 th of July weekend again. Too bad their aren't muskies in Lake Mary i have a cabin there... haha
