Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Just wanted to pass along a good old fashioned heads up for those of you needing good bait....bought a pound of large leeches Wednesday....called Gene's ahead of time....they were ready when I arrived AND they were larger than the Jumbos in Saint Cloud AND they were $11.00 cheaper! KUDOS to GENE's AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!!

I can also put a plug in for the Sports Shop in Perham. They do a great job of keeping their bait fresh. They will also work hard to do what they can to accomodate you. They fish a lot themselves, so they know what works as far as tackle and equipment also.

I am a big fan of St. Croix rods, and was really interested in the reels that St. Croix now sells. I was at Genes sometime around the 4th to pick up some bait and a new fishing rod for my daughter (not a St. Croix though) I asked if they carried the St Croix reels and what they thought of them. The guy pulls one out and hands it to me to look at and flat out says not to buy it, he already had one and was not happy with it at all, especially at the price.
Honest opinions and advice - gotta like that.

Was just there on Sat. the 10th and picked up some shiners and Redtails and its great when you ask for a dozen and they don't count you out just 12, there dozen is more like 2 dozen (maybe it's just new math)..

A few years ago I was looking at a new shotgun, and was on the fence, they gave me a box of shells and said go shoot it, if you don't like it I'll take it back.....

That's service

i also have nothing bad to say about Genes. the bait in the winter is also the best around, especially the shiners, they arent the big arkansas shiners like normal shops have that time of the year, they are MN river shiners. All the bait keeps a long time. Got some red tails once that kept to 2 months with only 2 or 3 dieing. good bait at a higher price is alway better than the **** that dies right away, but they dont by any means over charge. Genes is a great place!!!

this is just my 2 cents

Gene's in the greatest bait shop in the best bait shop in the planet...period. Tom is great and always gives you great deals or advice. No matter what your looking for they can find it. I only come up to perham once or twice a year since it is a 10 hour drive for me, but even thought i'm not a regular, they treat me like one. Now, if only they would bring back "Gene's favorites" spinner baits, i could get a good nights sleep. Oh well, i'll live

I Couldn't agree with you guys More. They guys and gal at Gene's are Great. Does anyone know if Old Gene is still around??

I try to buy quite a bit of my lures up at Genes. I can easily get them cheeper at Walmart or K-Mart, but I would much rather spend an extra buck or two for good service and good advise.
And they sell the minnows buy the scoop for about 2.50. And you easily get 2 1/2 to 3 dozen minnows.
I wish they would bring back to biggest fish contest. I like looking at all the pictures of the fish. It also kept me, by little bro, and my cousins busy all week, trying to catch the biggest bullhead of the week. We would hurry into Gene's everyday to check to see if we were still in first place. ( like anyone else would actually bring bullheads in!!)
I can't wait to visit them in about a week.

Hey Moose , sounds like some tough shooting as of late for you at those duckies . Just curious as to what choke you are using ?

Has anyone ever stored with Oak Narrows Storage before? Need a spot to put a Polaris Ranger for the winter and thinking of calling them for a space, does anyone have any experience or feedback? Any other recommendations would be welcome. Need a 10x10 or 10x12 space likely.
      Thanks!

Tamarack Island Wilderness Lodge is pretty accommodating. Grassy Narrows Lodge is one of the nicer lodges in my opinion on the Canadian Southern portion. We made a point of stopping at a bunch of locations last year and this is good sized and really nice. At this point it would be my preferred Lodge on that portion of the lake. Both of these are boat into and on an island. Ryan

Good afternoon guys, I live in Burnsville and I was wondering if anyone has had much luck on Crystal Lake for bass and Pike? I've fished it a few times and only caught 2 bass in a total of 8 hours.  Not looking for any specific locations, but any tips would be much appreciated!!!   Live bait? Plastics? Troll cranks for pike? thanks guys, have a great day. Gabe
