ottertail spillway

Is the Ottertail Spillway running low currently? I will be up the 3rd week of May as I do every year. Just wondering if anyone has fished the spillway or Phelps Mill. Is there usually a peak time to hit these spots? I hope the size of the Pike will increase, I haven't caught a decent sized pike in many years. Isn't that true that they do have size restrictions on them now? I hope so, the larger pike have all but vanished from what I've seen. Any feedback would be appreciated.

the entire lake is low, so yes, there isn't much spilling over. They do have a 30" minimum on northerns now and you can only keep one. Should be interesting to watch the results of this as the years go on.

Cabin boy,

Thanks for your response. It's about time they put a size limit on those northern. I was catching panfish that weighed more than most of those little pike. So the limit went from 3 to 1? That's great they did, hopefully the size and numbers will increase over the future.

Anyone come up with a good way to store the dinette table when fishing? My IC has two holes under the dinette and I put it outside to fish but it is sooooo cold when I turn it into a bed to go to sleep. Thinking of a bracket to hang it inside but I don’t really want to block a window? Any ideas? What do you guys do?

Went by there today and noticed a few house setup in the contest area.  What happens to them next weekend? They are told to move or get kicked off a public lake? Should have gone to a different lake there Wanderer. Just saying. My son and I today.

There have been signs there for a long time,   maybe 30 years?

Good for him making those signs I enjoy his views in a nutshell!

Access is in good shape at Hole in the Day.  Ice is in good shape and travels MUCH easier than last year.  But that was due to slush getting rutted and refrozen.  These warm temps might play that way again.  But for now all is well. Fishing though... the evening walleye bite was short like usual but finicky for us.  1 - 14 inch eye iced and one other lost.  Set line and shiner was responsible for the 14.  The hooked and lost fish was on a spoon with minnow head but I had to let it hang still for the commitment.  I had several other lookers but they just wouldn’t eat it.  Two lines became one but no bump!  Nice day to be on the lake.

Been past there many times, never was able to read the whole sign since slowing down could get a guy run over.  Thanks.
