Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Star Lake Reports

Swede in Elmo

I'm heading to Star this weekend and was wondering if anyone had fished it recently. I've heard the night bite has been slower than usual and the fish have been deep during the day. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.

So how did you do last weekend? I was up last week and caught a few in 25' to 30' off of the small island. The wind was a little difficult, but if you could mark fish, you had a chance. There are so many breaklines on that lake that sometimes it makes it a little difficult. Has anyone caught any eyes shallow? Where and how deep? Thanks

Swede, Any specific info on location on the night bite? We have tried to the east of the public access off of 108 with some success. Don't work at the night bite very often. I have seen boats on the north arm by Galaxy and what I call Peaches trailer court. My grandpa had a trailer in that trailer court back in the 60's. He taught me alot about this lake. Watched them land on the moon in that trailer!!! Getting back on track --- any info on location of the night bite???

Big Dawg,

The wind was difficult as you mentioned. We basically lost an entire day and night (Friday). The fishing we did get in was actually very good. The day bite was steady, we were catching them in about 32 - 40 feet on crawlers and redtails. Boat control probably limited our success. The night bite was very good, 7 - 8 feet was the magic depth. The night bite was so good that we ended up sleeping through most of the days.

I've fished several different shorelines. Last weekend, the south (Spruce lodge) shore between the island and the church camp was hot. We also caught fish along the west shore, between where the buoys usually are and the channel that leads to Frank's. The weeds are thick this year on the west side, but toward the channel it's still fishable. Avg. size was better on the south shore but there were some monsters swimming on the west shore. I've also caught fish on the north bar at night. Sometimes I think the wind has an impact on where they are, but I haven't really figured it out yet, I just try various shorelines until I find them. My guess is anywhere on that lake where you can find significant shallows followed by a decent drop in depth, fish will be in 5 - 7 feet.

Anyone on here been out on White Bear yet? I've seen a few people out off the Ramsey Beach area where the truck went through the other day but have not had a chance to venture out myself. Normally I hit the Belaire area early ice. Thanks!

Have you fished out there before? Is it worth putting some time in on the ice? Thanks-

Ice is scary on blue. I was out last weekend fishing next to open water north end is kinda sketchy still my buddy has been there every day this week. Still cant get close to the points only 1 inch there. Thicker by north end but its all older ice from the first freeze lots of cracks. The bay to the east towards the points and whole south end were wide open last sunday. Had 4 inches right next to it we fished as close to the point as we could get. We were 40-50 ft from open water and we got one eye. But ive never been so scared on ice before it was cracking very badly very loud and could feel the ice shifting. The walk back to access in the dark had my heart pounding and i didnt tjink we would make it back without one uf us goin through but we did make it.
