I read an article where your name was mentioned on sight fishing bull gills during the hard water season. It was in the latest edition of Midwest Outdoors. Is this an all ice season method, or just late ice? Now I can add 'gills to my sight fishing list along with stream trout, perch, and gators.

Thanks, Brian

Brian,
It is an all season method but first and last ice seem best. The key is usually vegetation. Find thick live vegies and youll usually have shallow gills all year.

If I am looking for bulls deep water will usually get the nod during mid winter. The nice thing about sight fishing is that you can get a quick feel for the size of the fish in your area.
