i will be in the grand rapids area the last week of september fishing pokegama. any tips on walleye at that time. i have never fished there that late in the season. i usually do pretty well rigging with crawlers earlier in the year but wonder if shiners or crankbaits would be better at this time?

The walleyes on Pokey are biting just after dark. Use medium to large floating rapalas trolled over flats and drop offs - key on 4 -10 ft depth. A friend caught 8 (18-24") in two hours last night.

thanks for the reply, unfortunately i did not get this info until after i returned from my trip. i did catch an 18" and a 22" walleye doing exactly what you suggest. if i had your info while i was there, i definitely would have had more confidence in my approach and spent more time on it. ah well, wait til next year.

Good to hear you connected. I was out on Pokey last Friday night ... we got three big ones (25, 23 and 22 inches). All on floating raps. Planning to go back this Friday evening.
